lwdefault only set the lineweight in your speciffic seat of acad. It doesn't carry over when someone else opens the drawing.
Ex. I set my default to .50mm and created a drawing then opened it on another computer and the lineweigt was no longer .50 but rather what the default was set up there...
Let me rephrase what i typed earlier....
when you want to make a layer. You first go to the layer manager and craete a layer. what do you do. First to type the name of the layer you want. Then change the color to what you want or need finally you set the "lineweight" to what you want it to be...
I know to use layermanager to create layers. What i want to do is set up autocad so that any layer created in the manager automatically has a set lineweight of .50mm not default. Too many people create the layer but never change the lineweight.
I've been talking about doing that but my managers etc don't want to waste the extra time and money. I'll keeep picking away at it. Hopefully it's a file problem rather than a compatibility type problem....oh well
Is there a way to make autocad create a new layer and automatically bring in a new lineweight besides default. My company has set several standards on lineweights and i have created several templates etc to help. However some of our employees never remember to create an object layer and set the...

I am trying to do the exact same thing but my drawings are located on a server. I have also just upgraded to 2004 and would like to know if there is another way to do this?
