Apparently the guy was able to make it hold 8lbs, unfortunately theres' no contact info from the post starter, I'd love to speak with them though!

The type of polymer you are talking about is generally a very soft polyurethane or polyolefin. (TPU or TPO). In order to be soft enough to be an adhesive it is generally necessary to take the base polymer and "oil extend" it by adding a compatible fluid.
