Afternon- I have some drawings which aren't making a lot of sense, one of the viewslooks like it's been based on three points- which points, I don't know.
Now, our supplier (The drawing was originally outsourced) has requested a change to one of the dimensions shown in this view. They don't...
Hi all, I know similar questions to this have been asked before, but I haven't been able to find an answer that solves my specific problem.
Generally at my work the part numbering is pretty good- the only time I get the "part number conflicts error" is when I'm overlaying two different releases...
Morning all-
If I'm updating a drawing (V5 R18) and give it a new release number, sometimes I'll go to "save as" (to upissue the title) and accidentally click save instead. Bit of a pain. I know it's a long shot, but is there any way of adding a check message to confirm, or do I just need to be...
Similar, cooling systems mostly. At the moment I'm mostly having a play, but it's nice to get ahead.
So, what I do on Catia is plot my points, and use the polyline tool to connect them up (screenshot shown). The polyline tool allows me to insert a radius and job's done.
But with NX, it seems...
I don't have a problem currently with importing points manually, usually the routings I'm doing are less than 15 or so bends, so it's not unusual even with Catia that I'll do them manually. Thanks for your help so far :-) Simon
Hello all-
I'm essentially pretty new to Unigraphics, having not touched it in the last 3 years and even then at a very basic level (Extrude! Extrude again! Negative boolean extrude!). Normally I use Catia v5, but we're looking into Unigraphics and whilst I'm in the process of booking some...
Correct, but that wasn't my question ;-) but to take tubing as an example-
I have an idea that some people use axes as datums as they'll be measuring a tube with a CMM taking 5 or more points around the surface of the tube at two or more points and determining the central axis. This is because...
Morning all-
I'm unsure how to differentiate between indicating a centreline of a hole or shaft and indicating the surface of that part. I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean- from what I remember one uses the datum in line with a dimension, and one doesn't. But I'm not sure.
This is...
Afternoon all-
I currently work in the automotive industry, doing a lot of work in Catia modelling coolant pipes etc. We've just had a lot of interest from another customer that uses Unigraphics. Now, we've stopped our Unigraphics support, so currently we're stuck with 7.5.
So:
Question 1...
Normally when I do brackets I tend to use-
Datum A- Surface of initial mounting hole
Datum B- Mating surface around that hole
Datum C- Third item, usually second mounting hole (if there's one available!) or cut edge.
These are tube mounting brackets, usually welded on so I'll put an offset...
File/Save management. This displays every part, drawing, product etc currently open- select which one you want to save, and you can save or save as.
It's also useful for arranging imported files, for instance if you like to have one folder for top level assemblies and one for child parts.
I'm also in tubing (Automotive, cooling systems etc)- Is the tubing workbench really worthwhile? I've never had a chance to take a peek, we just lay a polyline, sweep and thickness with rotated sketches or multi-sections for end forms and planished parts.
Just curious!
Afternoon all-
I'm trying to create a counterbored hole that goes through two thicknesses, with a thread on one. It's for a bolt that you can tighten to pinch a part together (best see attached photo) but can't figure out how to leave a plain section on the thread definition. Does anyone know...
Hi Sriram- Thanks for responding.
Sorry, I should have been clearer- this is what I'm currently doing, although admittedly I'm spacing my dimension texts slightly more. I'd like the whole thing to be underlined with my spacing- is this possible? I can't add the "2X" as the prefix as then I...
Morning... I've been bothered by this one for a while now. In the attached image, the associated text is the "2x". I'd like to shift the whole thing over to the right a little bit. Any ideas how?
I've tried to make it a fake dimension but couldn't insert the diameter symbol.
Cheers...
