Hi All,
Just a quick update, after a few more reading sessions online and through the documentations I believe the following statements outline why my results for a Buckling Load Estimate using Eigenvalues were nonsensical.
- Eigenvalues are generally used to estimate critical buckling loads...
FEA_way - I'm trying to stay away from non-linear buckling for as long as I can. As you can imagine, the complexity of the model will take days to run. However, you are right that non-linear buckling is probably the next best step to take.
SWComposites - Thanks! I did some experimental studies of a simple lap joint to determine the buckling loads, and came to the same conclusion. I've found that "Live" Loads can include 'Inertia loads' (when gravity is applied), model mass etc. Scanning the Abaqus documentation for Buckling, loads...
I'm basically completing a Axial load capacity calculation for a simple 'plate' column under compression,
Rectangular Section = 3.57 in Wide X 0.14in Thick.
Unbraced 'Column' Length = 3.5 in
Material = 7075-T651
This is not ideal, however after discussions with some of the other engineers...
Hello All,
I am trying to determine the Buckling load in a mulit-body assembly, with preloaded fasteners.
I have the following steps
1. Initial
2. Preload step (with contact)
3. Preload 'Fixed' Step
4. Static, Perturbation
5. Buckle.
I have 150+ fasteners with preload (Summation of all...
I'm already using a script to populate my fasteners and their respective couplings to bolt edges and faces. After looking into it further I think best option will probably be the *INCLUDE keyword. This way I can use the work I've already done, as long as my Set/Surface names are the consistent...
That's a bugger. We aren't moving to the latest until after this project so that option is out.
As I will be using 2017 for the remainder of this project, any advice on getting these constraints to copy across?
Cheers,
Jakob

Hi FEA Way,
That is the current method I am taking within Abaqus/CAE 2017. However, I do not have any options to copy across constraints such as couplings, ties, etc. see attached
Is this an update in more recent versions?

Jakob

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to copy constraint objects, such as couplings, MPC Constraints, Ties etc between models in ABAQUS.
To provide context, I have a model where I have slight geometry translation change between interacting bodies. My current method involves copying the model, moving...
Hi All,
I have a scenario where I have a Bracket in an aircraft mounting to an airframe using rivets. I have 10 fastener holes with 3 of those piggy backing onto existing aircraft rivet locations, so in those three locations I am riveting through 3 'plates'.
My model is solid elements with...
