    solder in radiation in environments

Can anyone point me to literature regarding solders joint reliability in radiation environments?

    Pressure sensors protection from wear

If you had room to mount the sensor deeper, maybe you could get a custom miniature load cell with a replaceable load button. Wear on the button wouldn't affect the load cell accuracy.

    square thread forms

The only thing I have seen them on is large force testing/calibration machines. If you call around to the places that have or build million lb + testing machines, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

    high temperature pressure transducer

Of course the piping standoff are the easiest way, but if you want extra protection or cannot get away from the heat then water cooled pressure sensors are also available. You can even get them as differentials and with amplifiers. The only problem is the low range. You could probably get a...

    INTRINSICALLY SAFE PRESSURE TRANSDUCER

For FM intrinsically safe approval of a internally amplified pressure transducer, do they impose any design or testing requirement on the pressure sensor itself? Is it the same with CSA approval? Thanks for the help.

    Rotating or static torque sensor

Typically, a reaction sensor would be your first choice for price and accuracy. You would then move to a more expensive rotary system when the application requires. If you can provide more details on the application, maybe we can provide some guidance.

Applying fixture to pin in double shear:

If you reduce it to a 1/4 model with 3 contacting parts, the restraints become easy, but you still need to choose the worse case for the fit up of the parts.

    Welding Inconel X750

Thanks for info. We weld Inconel 625 to 316L with no problem. It looks X750 maybe significantly different. Good to know! No filler rod is just the standard process here. The weld has very significant impact on product performance. This process or EBwelding seems to work best throught our industry.

    Welding Inconel X750

Thanks. I have seen this sheet. It seems to imply that you can weld "normally" in the hardened condition if you don't expose it to higher temperatures afterwards. Would it be right to assume that the advice applies only welding to X750 and similar alloys or would it apply in general to other...

    Welding Inconel X750

Does anyone have thoughts on TIG welding Inconel X750 to 316L stainless steel? I want to weld a 3/4" "rod" of inconel to a "thick wall tube" of 316 (3/4" id). The parts would be slid together so the ends are even and the welded at the interface of the two parts. No filler metal. Inconel would...

    Nasa Specifications

Does any anyone know where I can get a free copy of the following NASA specifications: MC999-0096 (specifically appendix I, SPACE SHUTTLE MATERIAL SELECTION LIST, METALLIC MATERIALS) AND MSFC #50M60456

    Annealing 17-4

Does anyone have information on the yield strength of 17-4PH SST at it's annealing temp? An educated guess? I'm annealing parts that have a large center mass supported by thin beams. I'm trying to ensure that they don't sag during heat treat.

    automobile rust protection?

I remember discussing these in my first corrosion course. Reported experience was that it did actually create some pretty severe rust in areas away from where it was attached, as you mention it might.

List of node values from Designstar or Geostar

Is there a straightforward way to get the underformed node coordinates into a spreadsheet. It seems very easy to do it with the node displacements, but I need the original undeformed coordiantes also. Geostar let me list the coordinates, but when I tried to copy them into excel, the node...

    "Pits" in 17-4 SST

Correct we are polishing the cross section. The yields have not been better in the past, however they are not unacceptable either. We've also used plate stock in the past. But the failures were not investigated at the time. They could have easily occured in photolithography or sputtering...

    "Pits" in 17-4 SST

After polishing disks of 17-4PH SST to around 0.5 microinch Ra finish, I have enough pits on the surface that it effects the yield of my product. I hoping somebody could comment on the following: 1) Are the pits likely existing voids in the material? 2) Can I select different grades of this or...

Where to purchase low-cost load cells??

First I recommend the "The Tale of the Scale" by Solly Angel for anyone silly enough to design a load cell (a bathroom scale in the book) without any experience. If that doesn't convince you, I might have a proposal. The idea involves using a small sputtered thin film cantilevered beam with a...
