My company did some business with Bloomberg a while back and I noticed that everyone there had biz. cards that gave telephone, fax, address, etc. but no titles. My contact there said they all did this and that titles and responsibilities came with each assignment, were fluid and reinforced the...
Hey, pumpdesigner - what's burning out? which MOV - or is it all 3? We had an offshore job, nuking the L-G MOV almost continually. Floating ground on the vessal! Up to 350V float, no way to stop that on a 120VAC line. Removed it, left L-N in place, problem solved, welders think I'm a genius...
Who would use this part? Where do they learn about similar devices? Who are your competitors - and would they want to buy your idea instead of sell theirs? How many would a normal customer buy - a few from you direct or many from a distributor? Can the customer learn to program these - and what...
Not for this; I have an existing backlight inverter to modify; it uses this part. Buried in a LCD monitor, no help from the LCD vendor. Need to turn off 2 CCFLs and reduce power draw.
Yes, it's their own and they sell ICs. Regardless of the validity of pending lawsuits (they stole the IP), they give the data sheets to any customer deemed high volume. I can get d/s from TI, Linear, Nat Semi, Moto - all day long. They WANT me to know how to use their chips. Any co. has this...
I need to do some retro-engineering on a CCFL backlight assembly that uses an O2Micro controller, an OZ970G smt16 IC.
O2 only talks to BIG VOLUME customers (not me) and won't even give me a data sheet!
Back when they sold ICs to design engineers, their tech support was lame and superficial, so...
I too thought about doing this a few years ago. First question - just for you or do you want to sell these? Not plans, the actual A/C? 2nd, check withthe FAA and talk to a local EAA chapter. Lotsa work for either decision, more so if you want to sell to others. Before it will get an...
what's the auto conversion? I'm trying to learn about Subaru auto conv. for aircraft and prop speed reduction units are a big part of that build. If I make the parts cheap enough, eventually the whole plane will be free - right? ;-)

John Linstrom
The rule of thumb I learned was about 1.0W. I'm not sure that there is an exact number, but it is derived from the heat needed to explode actylene gas ( the easiest to explode). See www.mtl-inst.com
years ago I came across some Soviet research info on high power ultrasonics (refereences forgotten)at the Univ. of Ky Engr. library. I bet a request to a local engr. library or a search on the 'net would help. Lotsa variables involved!
there are a couple of user groups that talk about these problems - search under 'Soob' or Subaru (popular auto A/C engine) and the magazine Contact! Lots of 'been there, done that' testimonials. Aviod the 'I heard that the way to do that is...' statements; nothing is better than actually trying...
A source, please, for a type of optically clear cement to glue 2 pieces of Lexan together. Water-clear, easy process (and cheap!) would be preferred. Thaks-
what design software do you use or have heard being used for light aircraft design? I am a EE, computer fluent and a pilot. I have the urge to investigate the design of a plane I saw pictured long ago - how to validate/update the design. Old data not available.
