Hi all,
Many thanks for your responses. The positions of the plug welds are actually called out on the piece parts before assembly (i.e. hole positions). So I can simply call out the weld symbol with stripped down information.
You've also answered another question where we have a simple 3 spot...
Hi all,
I want to use a plug weld symbol on a drawing. Referring to the ISO standard, it states that the symbol has the dia of the plug before the symbol, with the dimensions (qty x pitch) following the symbol.
This is fine for a set of plug welds in a line, but what if you had a pattern of...
Thanks for your help.
I've read elsewhere the use of exploded views. But it seemed a little involved when I don't actually want an exploded view. There are several of these assemblies we have to prepare over the course of any one project.
I realise it's a complex thing to achieve, but it's...
Hi All,
I've just managed to work out how to use 'arrangements' in assemblies in the modelling environment.
I have a component shown in 3 different positions. Is it possible to show the three different arrangements in one view in drafting? I've be trying for the last few hours and searched all...
Hi all,
We have just upgraded our machines from NX4 to NX5. We are due to go live in the New Year and so we are carrying out some initial testing to ensure all is well.
We have one machine that has a little problem in calling a UTD dialog box in NX5. The UTD box flashes for a split second (if...
Hi all,
Many thanks for all your responses. There's plenty to think about so I'll give some of your ideas a go.
John - we're upgrading to NX5 anytime now, so in the future I'll be able to use the 'Instance Geometry' method.
Regards,
Andy.

Hi Cowski,
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I want the helix to stay the same length but stay attached to the end of the shaft when the shaft length is increased.
Many thanks,
Andy.

Hi guys,
Hope you can help. I have created a thread using the sweep command around a helix curve on a shaft. I want to attach the helix to the end of the shaft so that when I increase the shaft length, the helix will follow.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Andy.

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply. I am currently trying to learn VB so we can customise some of the NX functionality.
Would you have any tips/help you can offer on the best approach to this problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am still on the rather large VB learning curve...
Hi,
No, I'm not working for a GM supplier (I work in the Orthopaedic Implant industry).
I don't think there's an easy answer for this.:-(

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of a way of plotting a series of PRT files without having to open each file individually? I was hoping for some form of command line method so it can be performed outside of NX.
I looked at the help menu, but the closest it gives is using NXPLOT to plot CGM, JPEG and...
Hi Justin,
It's actually a plot to file function that places a file on our system so that it can be viewed by our in house drawing viewer.
In NX4, we can't seem to get the grip routine to "Print to file", only to "Print to printer only" option (i.e. the default setting in File\Plot\Plot...)...
Hi Guys,
We have just upgraded from NX2 to NX4. We have previously used a GRIP function for automating a plot function (written by another engineer).
We have had several problems in converting the GRIP routine to NX4. So, I'd like to look into writing a program using the methods supported by...
Thanks Dave,
This could prove useful. If anyone out there knows how to create the suggestion above (or anything similar), please let me know.
Many thanks in advance,
Andy.

Hi Guys,
We are upgrading to NX4 and was wondering if there is a way (other than using templates) to load a layer configuration into a part file when first created (similar to customer defaults in NX4).
We have template files with all the layers set-up, but getting some engineers into the...
Hi Guys,
If a dimension becomes dettached from some geometry on a drawing, is there a way re-linking the dimension without deleting it and inserting a new one?
I've looked at the NX2 help files and they seem to suggest using the 'Feature Parameters' on the Drafting Annotation toolbar, but I...
Hi Guys,
When I insert a user-defined symbol, it comes in slightly larger than when it was created.
I've ensured that the Symbol Factor during creation is at default 0.0. I've also played with changing it to 1.0, but still with no luck.
Any ideas?
Many Thanks,
Andy

Thanks cloche,
I did perform a search but I seemed to have missed that thread...oops.
Thanks,
Andy.

Hi Guys,
I'm just about to re-vamp our company layer set-ups. The ones we currently use are out of date and engineers don't seem to be adhering to them anyway.
So I'd like to get all our engineers back on path using a new company layer set-up.
So what do you guys use? Any suggestions?

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to create a Macro to simplify importing of DXF files.
When I record the macro, it records the EXACT file that I initially imported... but I want the macro to allow the user to select a different file.
IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Any ideas in how to allow this if it is possible?
I...
