This should be simple one - but have no formula book.
I have a pipe sticking out of the ground that has been pushed down with a excavator bucket to align with the adjoining pipe.
i want to do a simple calc based on a cantilever beam (but with a pipe fixed in) to find the max deflection...
Not UK based pipeline. Raised a related question to this on 21 Nov. Currently using Shell approved method but cold temperatures are really unforgiving for the allowable DP and data collection is almost untenable. The last test took 5 days - first two days pure stabilisation. I am interested how...
A quick heads up on Hydrotest. Looking for any approved methods that have test time <24hrs duration, suitable for large diameter onshore pipelines (test section length max 4km). Refs for standards or company approved methods would be usefull. Thanks.
welded X70 pipeline, welded high presure test headers. 3km test section. Buried section temp data loggers - to fit probes - dig down on pipe connect probe to pipe and backfill. Exposed pipe same technique without the back fill.
Were going to try and cover the exposed sections with rockwool/hay...
80% of pipeline is backfilled, remaining 20% is exposed. we use weighted values for start and end temps to give us overall DT that is used for allowable DP for the overall DT in the Shell Depp formula.
On all previous tests, as normal we see a pressure drop when temperature drops and calculate...
The Darcy - weisbach formula is a linear pressure drop relationship, how can this be used to determine pressure drop in turbulent compressible flows. It is known that the rate of pressure drop is much greater as the gas travels downstream as compared the rate of drop when it is at relatively...
