    Drainage - Car Wash

there is a difference between oil-water seperators and grease interceptors. what you need is a grease interceptor. i work for a precaster and we sell lots of grease interceptors for car wash projects. all you need to let us know is the maximum capacity of discharge going into the vault and we...

    concrete water tank

concrete is a darker color when it gets wet. fill the vault full of water and look all around the outside for any discoloration. this is how the inspectors check to see if our vaults leak. i know this because i work for a precaster and this is how it is done. IAPMO (intl. assoc. of plumbing &...

    200 kip vehicle load

oh wait! nevermind all! the customer just called and says the contractor is jumping the gun. but, it turns out it was a 747 airplane, and the load was 800-kips spread over three axles. So thank you bridgebuster for your comment! but i guess this slab was just another pipe-dream.

    200 kip vehicle load

Has anyone heard of a 200 kip vehicle load? I am supposed to design a concrete slab with a 200-kip rated hatch. That is all the info I have for it. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this loading and does it cover a specified area? or is it just a point load? I am curious because I need to...

Controlled Density Fill (CDF) Shear Strength

I found out that the company I work for reccomends flowable fill. We just call it CDF on our drawings for some reason. Flowable fill is concrete with a high water/cement ratio and fine aggregates. Hence the 300 psi compressive strength. After it hydrates, it is solid and therefore may resist...

Controlled Density Fill (CDF) Shear Strength

Hi, I am having a hard time finding the shear strength of Controlled Density Fill (CDF). I am designing an underground utility vault that is buried deeper than usual. Due to the excess soil pressures and thin-walled precast vault, the contractor must install CDF around the outside of the vault...
