Hi everyone
I recently bought a steel bar that is 2”x2”x12”. The supplier told me that it was cut from a forged plate. I notice that the plate that my bar was cut from was forged from a circular bar. What I wanted to know is the orientation of my bar in reference to the plate. From the...
Hi redpicker, thanks for the reply. I was thinking something similar, but I think it will get quite complicated. Because I will be using load control and probably at high frequency to speed up the test, so it would be quite difficult to get the hydraulic machine to compensate for it...
Hi all, hope I am posting in the right place.
I will be conducting some load control fatigue test on my compact tension sample. I have done these test before and successfully monitored the crack with a CMOD clip gauge. But this time I am running at low load and a paper that I found said that...
Hi, I am trying to do some fatigue calculations on a component, but find that there are not enough material data (S-N data). So I am trying to generate my own data (mainly with higher stress ratios) to use in conjunction with those available. However, the data available are at a different heat...
Hi, I have been talking to someone about uniaxial (tension-tension) loading fatigue testing. They told me that hollow cylinder specimen is a lot harder to work with than solid cylinder specimen in terms of fatigue. I just want to know the reason for that. Is it because the cross section of the...

I have checked the ASMD from CINDAS; it only got data for condition H1000.
Does the Damage Tolerant Design Handbook contain the same data or they are generated by different parties than the ASMD?
Thanks, I actually got that article. However, I am after something that is more general. The article is only about small-cracks and only explore R ratio of 0.1 and -1. I am trying to find the fatigue data for long cracks with a wide variety of R ratio (preferably high R ratio, such as 0.6-0.9)
Hi, I am trying to look for fatigue crack growth data (da/dN-?K data) for the material PH 13-8 Mo stainless steel with H1050 condition. I have looked through MIL-HDBK-5J, but they don’t have the crack growth data. Anybody able to provide or help me to locate the data?
I am trying to look for some black hawk fatigue reports produced by Sikorsky. They have report number such as Ser-70116, anyone have any idea where I can get a free pdf version of them? I am in particular looking for a part that describe the fatigue testing procedure on the main rotor tie rod.
I am new to material fatigue and I have just started doing some work on helicopter fatigue. I am getting confuse about load spectrum and usage spectrum. Are they the same thing? It will be good if someone can provide me a link to an example of each.
