Duplex SS Charpy Impact Value conversion

Hello, Is there a formula with which you can convert Charpy impact values of a given duplex ss testpiece to impact values @lower temp (same wallthickness/ same weldingprocess etc), thus avoiding the need for retests. Thanks in advance. WeldingPartner

    Base Metal Thickness Range

Hello, If you like to know more about this topic, you can download an article called "The Impact Testing Enigma AB-511" from www.absa.ca. The full story.... Good Luck, Hugo

    Source for 15lbs Impact requirement

Hello, The answer reached me already: ASME VIII Div 1 UG 84 gives minimum charpy impact test requirements, for steeltypes with different yield strengths. Please let me know if you have additional info, Best regards.

    Source for 15lbs Impact requirement

I followed the advise and I found indeed impact values, but..not for ASTM A106. Are there maybe referenced sources, from which an impact requirement of 15 lbs min. for ASTM A106 Gr B appears? Thanks in advance.

    Source for 15lbs Impact requirement

Hi, In the BPV world, working with CMn steels you are often confronted with values as 15 lbs av. impact requirement with one testvalue not below 10lbs. I realised not to know for sure where these values origine from. If you do, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Weldpartner

    Tube-to-tubesheet weldjoints or not...

Thanks a lot, Reading your answers helped me on a workable track. So, it is really great to know a forum like this. However, don't hesitate to post a clear definition (with reference to the source) regarding the specific difference between tube-to-tubesheet weld and plate-to-tube weld, if it...

    Tube-to-tubesheet weldjoints or not...

Hello Metengr. No, I'm not talking about a Tubesheet stay. Rgrds, WeldingPartner

    Tube-to-tubesheet weldjoints or not...

Thanks for your responses sofar. Unfortunately not useful yet. I'll try to be more specific: We have a Tubesheet with a tube bundle, to be welded. No problem. However, one (1) of the tubes has a complete different diam + wallth., and outside the tube pattern. The weld configuration is identical...

    Tube-to-tubesheet weldjoints or not...

Hi All, Reviewing welding procedures, I suddenly realized not to have a solid answer regarding the following question: What is the crucial difference between a "normal" (fillet pipe to plate)weldjoint and a "tube-to-tubesheet" weldjoint requiring a special mock-up test. Looking forward to...

ASME- and European Standard (EN) PQR differences

Hello, I am looking for a comparisonlist showing the required ASME and EN PQR testcoupons (types, amounts, testmethods, deviations, acc. criteria) for different welding situations. (Proces(ses), basemetal-type(s), -thicknesses, joint configs, etc.etc.) I am convinced that this wheel has been...
