Solvent based cleaning equipment for continuous film processing line

Hello: Working on developing an automated production line to manufacture a thin-film product. We currently have non-contact cleaning systems in place, but we are looking to add a solvent based cleaning equipment to the line to remove "residues" on the web. We are processing the substrate in a...

Pro/E vs Solid Works vs Solid Edge

I am a recent convert from SW to Pro/E. If you are a looking to expand your capabilities as an engineer or company, I would definitely recommend Pro/E. I think it ends up being more money for all of the bells and whistles, but it was an easy cost for us to justify.

Twin or Single Round Throttle Body for better throttle response?

I disagree with johnny cowboy-"You should never, however, have 2 different throttle bodies feeding the same valve inlet" There are a multitude of factory setups which utilise two tb's feeding a common plenum. I think what you are looking for has merit (throttle response and control)-however...

Help with finding correct composite for musical instrument

also check out quintus stringed instruments (www.gracestrings.com) There is some technical info that is basic, but it just might be helpful...

    Diesel EGT

Ideally you have one thermocouple at the BASE of each exhaust port. If only installing a single thermocouple, then (as mentioned above) place at the base of the hottest running cylinder. Placing the thermocouple at the base of the exhaust port discharge will help ensure the measured...

    Rotoblock?

on the website they have a 'video' of a prototype.. kind of a novel concept, but i think i saw sparks flying out of the thing 8-X

    Designing an exhaust system

Ideally you design the system on a solid modeling program-but if you are looking for a low buck approach, something to consider is the centerline radius of the 'pvc' mock up plumbing, and how that would (or most likely WOULDNT) correspond to readily available tooling die sets and pipe...

Has anyone ever used electric water pump?

I have used the Davies Craig waterpumps with much success and would highly recommend their product. I was also curious about flow vs pressure data, but have used the 110 l/min pump on the engine coolant systems supporting +650hp with no problems. Its a very handy unit esp. with the controller.

constantly variable length runner intake. interesting.

Do a bit of poking around for the Le Mans winner-Mazda 787b. Its a 4 rotor wankel with pneumatic actuators that variate the length of the intake runners.

    carbon fiber and aluminium

...another benefit of using fiberglass as an intermediary ply is that it has a CTE rougly in between that of carbon and aluminum-which will reduce internal stresses in the assembly during temperature variation when compared to the direct bond of aluminum/carbon.

    Composites noob plaster mold question

You will have reliability/structural issues using plaster as a mold. It is handy for taking a 'splash', but I always build my molds out of something more robust.

    Tooling foam wanted.

I have used a few different products from General Plastics in the past with good results..They have a product which should hold up to about 195C... Also maybe try Aquacore(machinable) or Aquapour (castable) http://www.acrtucson.com/products/Aquacore/index.htm Obviously the aqua line is geared...

Best composite material for gasoline tank

Above and beyond the safety consideration, I have had epoxy resins break down (with carbon substrate) under extended exposure to petroleum distilates (gasoline and diesel)- the mechanical strength of the composite diminished about 40% (in bending) after about 100 hours of continuous exposure to...

Best composite material for gasoline tank

    Flywheel/clutch weight issues

as evelrod had mentioned, ENGINE acceleration/deceleration will quicken-in actuality, VEHICLE acceleration will be marginally measurable (if that..)...but thats not to say that its not worth it..one of the major benefits will be smoother/quicker up/downshifts and revmatching (which is critical...

    Trouble Sourcing Specialty Fuel Injectors

Thanks for all of the responses! Ataloss: Spoke to Bosch Motorsports today-Definitely much more helpful than the 'standard' bosch line. Their standard EV6 injector has a static flow rate of around 11g/sec-which supposedly will acheive my required flow rate at about 4.5-5bar base pressure...

    Trouble Sourcing Specialty Fuel Injectors

Howdy I am working on an gasoline engine development project, and am having a bit of trouble sourcing appropriate fuel injectors. This is a port injection configuration, and I cannot accomodate multiple injectors/port. The main issue is that I have very tight space constraints, with...
