    They don't appear to be spiked. It looks as if there is a spline and chinking between each vertical log. There is a top and bottom plate 2x10 that the logs are "possibly" nailed to with either toe nailed or end nailed 16d framing nails. http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=260493&page=1
