AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 - Storm and Sanitary Analysis SSA

Hi All, Has anyone been using the new Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA) software within Civil 3D 2012 to do all their Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis? Any opinions on it? Is it time to look into switching from HydroCAD and Hydraflow? Interested to know people's thoughts. The new SSA program...

Exfiltration - start above an elevation?

Thanks for the input Peter. I may switch to simple dynamic or may take a manual approach. If I model a basin with exfiltration at all elevations. I could then manually print the discharge table and take those CFS volumes at say every 0.50ft and plug them into a special user defined outlet...

Exfiltration - start above an elevation?

Can HydroCAD delay exfiltration from a basin until the water within it gets to a certain depth? The "Only above invert" is not the answer as that then excludes the bottom area as impervious. I only want to delay the start as required by MA DEP "static method" regs. Therefore, a basin with...

    Drainage Calculation Software

I attempted to use Hydraflow Hydrographs but it couldnt do some things that my states regs required. So back to HydroCAD. Very good program, easy to use, and have used it at a couple of medium sized firms and relatively cheap.

Construction Vehicle Wash Facility using recycled wash water

I don't have specific experience however have done some research. I have seen used the type that you are mentioning, as well as much more advanced treatment systems. One that I had looked at is Pan American Environmental VEW (Vehicle Equipment Washwater Treatment Systems) A suggestion which...

    Porous Asphalt Frost Depth

I do not have a specific answer as well, and have been reading the same thing. Some saying it is not important and other giving some guidance on Frost Depth. Have you seen the UNH web site? http://www.unh.edu/erg/cstev/ some pretty detailed information based on actual installations/testing in a...

    Advice for PE Civil Exam

My opinions: 1) The practice problems book questions are very detailed and very long compared to the exam questions. 2) The lindeburg Sample examination book is more realistic but unlike that sample exam, I think (thankfully its been a few years since I took it!) each question is an entirely new...

Too much Olive Oil in septic system

Thanks for your assistance. I think a combination of restaurant procedures, a pretreatment unit, and proper maintanence of septic tanks will all need to be considered to properly maintain this system given the use.

Too much Olive Oil in septic system

Thanks for the post. True, the 1,000 gallon grease trap may not have been maintained as well as it should but there is available pumping records showing some maintenance. I've been told the Olive Oil, in particular, tends to remain suspended longer than typical grease. Which may have...

Too much Olive Oil in septic system

Does anyone know how to filter or keep Olive Oil from getting to the leach field of a septic system? A Mass. Title V septic system (3,000+/- GPD, pumped to a chamber leach system) has completely failed after 8 years. It would seem the Olive Oil (used in every dish at this restaurant) is making...
