Fuse sizing in a 3 phase circuit

I had an interview that had a test. One of the questions I supposedly got wrong was sizing each line (1L1, 1L2, 1L3) in a motor branch circuit. The nameplate on the motor was a given 3A FLA. I was asked to size the fuses by 300% using a class CC fuse. I took the 3A and divided by the square root...

Ethernet/IP good choice for fast reliable control application?

Thanks for all of the info! We ended up just running a long cable to the machine. The customer was a little concerned with any delays. But, knowing that Ethernet/IP has this cabability in the future will make me more willing to go this route. Thanks.

    Can Panelbuilder read UDT's?

I am using an AB Contrologix processor with a standard PV. Before I start assigning my tags in Panelbuilder, can someone tell me if Panelbuilder can read my UDT tags or do I map them to another address. I know UDT's work fine in PV+(RSView) but I am not sure with a standard PV. Thanks

    simple one

Yes you can. IL = line current or treat it as the phase current. Where VL is your line voltage at a single point. The 1.73 is there as a square root of 3 (3 phase).

    help set up a laptop

From my experience, short but nonetheless, with AB DH+ PLC's... You shouldn't need anything else. If you configure your RSLinx properly you will see the PLC node in "Who Active". Provided that your DH nodes are configured on your network (i.e. no duplicates) you should be able to see them in...

    MSG instruction in RSLogix5000

Forgive me if this is vague...I thought I'd throw out my experience using a MSG instruction to write data from one PLC to another for unsolicted messages. But, I had an application to where I needed to write data accross 2 PLC's.(Data Table Write) From what I remember... The Source tag is the...

Ethernet/IP good choice for fast reliable control application?

I am considering a stepper application via Flex I/O. We have done this locally (steppers close to the PLC). Now we would like to move these steppers out next to our machine. To reduce wiring we have suggested Flex I/O. We already are using Ethernet/IP for a couple other devices. There cannot be...

Write a VBA script to export Windows Users

I am trying to write a VBA script in Intellution's iFix 3.5 to export all of the User's in Window's Computer Management. I want to write a script that when a button is pressed on the screen it will create this file in .csv format. I know how to do it manually in Windows. The steps I would...

micrologix 1500 and RSLinx communication error

Here is something to check.. The USB to serial converter I have defaults my COM port to COM4. To verify this, hook the cables to the PLC (null modem will probably be needed) and go to RSLinx to configure the DF1 port. Select COM4 and click Auto Configure. If it says "Auto Configure successful"...

    Macro in QSave

I recently switched from AutoCAD 2000 LT to 2006 LT. My settings in 2000 were to Z(oom), E(xtents) under Qsave. When I switched to 2006 the same... Z,E,^C^C_qsave ... does not give me the zoom & extents capability that I like when I Qsave. Any thoughts? Thanks.
