Pressurized release of gas using ANSYS Fluent: are these settings correct?

I am currently trying to model the pressurized release of air from a 1000 psi tank into a chamber. I'm currently using Density-based settings because I couldn't seem to get a solution when I used Pressure-based settings. This is how I initialized the problem: 1) Set everything as a wall...

Modelling a shock tube in ANSYS Fluent

I know I posted a similar question, but I think I have a clearer explanation of what I want to do. I basically want to model a shock tube, where pressurized air is kept behind a diaphragm in an enclosed tube, and at t=0 the diaphragm bursts and the pressurized air propagates in the enclosed...

ANSYS Fluent for transient modelling of fixed mass of gas

*through. I have been reading up a little and I believe it's something to do with mass transfers, but I can't seem to find any tutorials (or at least, my school doesn't have them on the computer) that can help me out.

ANSYS Fluent for transient modelling of fixed mass of gas

Hi all, I am extremely new to ANSYS Fluent so pardon me if these questions are very basic. Basically I want to model the flow of a fixed amount of air in a pressurized gas tank throw a pipe and into a chamber using Fluent, how would I go about doing this? I currently just have the chamber...

What is a good constitutive model for isotropic metals?

yeah i looked for "gold stress-strain curves", "gold stress-strain data", "gold tensile stress-strain". Most of the results that came up were for gold film (which I could theoretically use, but the mechanical properties may differ slightly), or gold fibers embedded in other materials and...

What is a good constitutive model for isotropic metals?

I've found stress-strain curves, but I would need specific values for gold in order to input them into my model. Did you happen to come across a specific one for gold?

What is a good constitutive model for isotropic metals?

Yeah that's what I was thinking since gold is isotropic, but at some point in my compression modelling it is bound to experience plastic deformation so I was wondering if there is any way to model that. Is there any catalog out there which has stress-strain data for materials? I found Boyer's...

What is a good constitutive model for isotropic metals?

I am currently modelling the transverse compression of a gold fibre using FEA software, and I was wondering what plasticity model would be good. I'm thinking of using Johnson-Cook's plasticity model, but I then have no idea where to get the necessary parameters. If there is no good model, where...

    ABAQUS/Explicit Field output huge fluctuations

I forgot to mention, I'm using Dynamic/Explicit, NLGeom ON, in case this is important information.

    ABAQUS/Explicit Field output huge fluctuations

I'm using ABAQUS Explicit, simulating a dynamic pressure load within a confined box. I tried outputting the Mises stress at the inner corner node, and the output I'm getting has these huge vibrations (as attached). I'm not sure what this is, it's probably something to do with finite element...

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

I have emailed Tech Support, hopefully they can provide me with a proper answer. Thanks for your help!

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

Hmm I don't think so, seeing as I am not advanced enough to do that yet. I basically followed this http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/projekt/abq_hilfe/docs/v6.12/books/gsa/default.htm?startat=ap05s06.html Flow through a bent tube, but I modified the parameters for my case as necessary. The only thing...

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

I do have all 8 processors running, I'll try to run it with 6 and see how that goes, but I'm currently at my wits' end if that doesn't work. Does Simulia offer over-the-phone help or do they just have the knowledge base? Because I spent about 20 minutes figuring their website out and I gave up.

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

Other jobs have run fine, but this is the first co-sim that i've run on this computer. It has 32Gb RAM and 8 processors, so it should at least run, even if slowly. I just don't understand why it just stops responding. Come to think of it, it might actually be a networked license. The command...

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

Hi IceBreakerSours, First off, thanks for your response in both my threads, you've been a major help. I'm currently running a local installation of ABAQUS 6.12 Research Edition on my lab computer, but the problem keeps surfacing at approximately the same point. I have had solutions blow up so I...

    ABAQUS Fluid-Structure Co-simulation keeps crashing/Program not responding

I have no idea why this happens, but I've been pounding at this the whole night. I have a Fluid-Structure co-simulation all set up and ready to run. It does ok for about 3000 iterations, and then at a certain total time ABAQUS stops responding. What does this mean when this happens, is the...

ABAQUS 6.12 Fluid exchange with environment interaction requires two nodes?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've been trying to search the knowledge base for a fix but I can't. I might have a copy of Explicit in my school's computer, I might try that later. Otherwise, based on whatever I've done so far, should it theoretically work in Explicit?

ABAQUS 6.12 Fluid exchange with environment interaction requires two nodes?

    Here's from my input file: ** INTERACTIONS ** ** Interaction: Int-2 *Fluid Exchange, name=Int-2, property=exchange _PickedSet42 ** Interaction: first cavity *Fluid Cavity, name="first cavity", behavior=cavity, refnode=_PickedSet42, surface=Part-1-1."cup inner surface", ambient pressure=2e+07...

ABAQUS 6.12 Fluid exchange with environment interaction requires two nodes?

No, I know there's no two reference nodes required for environment interaction but somehow ABAQUS (I'm using 6.13) wants it. I uploaded a screenshot to show what's happening. I have a fluid cavity inside a cylinder (Interaction Property cavity, Interaction first cavity), the fluid exchange with...

ABAQUS 6.12 Fluid exchange with environment interaction requires two nodes?

Hi akabarten, thanks for your response. I followed the user manual at every step, but it just doesn't mention anything about having two reference nodes. I'm thinking of just making a huge tank to act as the "environment" for now just so I can get the project moving along. It doesn't help that...
