    WARRANTY OF PROCESS EQUIPMENT

It is very difficult to tie down the Warranty requirements and will vary from equipment to equipment. You need to be specific when issuing the procurement spec. on the parameters to be measured and establish the baseline conditions for the performance test. The data to be gathered must be...

Hydrostatic testing of tank with high s.g liquid

I did some Googling and found that the book "Guide to Storage Tanks and Equipment" by Bob Long & Bob Gardner refers to the European code pr EN14015 which requires a temporary extension to be built for hydrotesting tanks that hold liquids with sg greater than 1. JohnGP's standpipe method would...

Hydrostatic testing of tank with high s.g liquid

Agreed - that is what all the codes appear to say. However, the test would not stress the tank to operating conditions (such as when sg = 1.85). I saw a reference in an old drawing where they filled the tank with water and then applied a slight internal pneumatic pressure, although so far I...

Hydrostatic testing of tank with high s.g liquid

How do you test a tank that holds liquid with s.g. >1.0, such as molten sulfur.

    Liner bulge in pressure vessel

Good comments. We have checked out the weephole system and verified that these are clear. Some of the baffle trays had tilted and possibly this set up uneven internal flows causing the uneven wear. We repair pinholes on the liner every time we open the reactor (2 year frequency).

    Liner bulge in pressure vessel

We did further NDT and have proved that these are not liner bulges but uneven wear on the liner. Earlier UT readings had erroneously indicated uniform thickness of liner leading us to believe that the liner had distorted. Carefully re-doing the UT checks has confirmed that actually the liner...

    Liner bulge in pressure vessel

We are seeing small bulges in the internal liner of a multi-wall reactor vessel. It appears that in the bottom third of the reactor, the liner has pulled away from the wall in several places. We think that this may have been caused by some form of pressure surge. Has any one experienced a...
