ASD savings based on pump motor loading??

Since I don't want to trust "the fox watching the chicken coop" let me run these potential disadvantages/ facts by you: - Harmonic current introduced into the motor windings causing a 5% nominal motor heating. - Real power is reduced as a result of harmonics created by the VSD which...

ASD savings based on pump motor loading??

Thanks BobPE...You saved me a lot of grief...to answer your question, yes I was given that "fact" from a vendor!

ASD savings based on pump motor loading??

I was recently told that if the actual load on a pump motor were less than 50% of rated, there would be great potential for energy savings through the use of VFD’s. Is there a “rule of thumb” or an equation that would help predict savings by using VFD’s on synchronous pumps?

ESTIMATING SAVINGS TO JUSTIFY A VSD

Is there a "rule of thumb" or a formula used to estimate energy savings (by implementing a VSD) based on motor loading? I was given the following formula to calculate the predicted energy use with a VSD but it makes no sense to me (I have no idea where it came from) Energy used =...

    calculating pump efficiency

Does the efficiency of a pump change when the manufacturers pump curve is shifted upward as a result of a negative suction head? Ultimately I am trying to determine the predicted BHP of a pump operating at a given speed in order to predict the saving of implementing VSD.
