Have you looked at Geomagic, it sort of a cross between Imageware and Polyworks (IMEdit), you may find it useful

Please dont buy a milnota scanner you will regred it, I've worked with both laser scanners and white light scanner. the Minolta is good for art work were accuracy does not matter if you are look to reverse engineer in the 0.001 - 0.004" range white light is the way to go. I definenatly recommend...
