effects of running steam turbine in lower capacity than it's rated

Thank you csk62, but what I am tying to understand is how lower steam flow rate going into the nozzle and casing can causing more moisture if that is the case. is it because of steam flow profile change due to low volumetric steam flow entering with lower velocity? by the way, inlet pressure...

effects of running steam turbine in lower capacity than it's rated

Hello everybody, what would be the impact of running a turbine(with saturated steam inlet and exhausting low pressure) in half its capacity? I know pressure remains same, but we have issue at our plant with moisture in the 2 mw turbine. any thought would be highly appreciated. thank you in...

    Using Steam Drum as support

Hello All, I have difficulties here to support the main steam pipe because there is no column, post or structure around at the elevation we are running the pipe(28ft). the only thing I see to use is the steam drum lift tabs and few braces from the drum to support catwalk alongside it.I am...

    4140 or 4340

No, I know to have 250 ksi , I should go for 48-52 HRC. My point was being worry about cost of hardening and then machining. thanks

    4140 or 4340

Thank you gentlemen,I forgot to mention the hardness which is 32 HRC. I almost got the answer. But, I am worry to go over 32 hrc to get 250 ksi tensile strength because then it would be hard to do machining because I need to make a hole on it for the load cell. and weld a base plate to the top...

    4140 or 4340

Hi all, I am mechanical eng and I do not know much about material.I am planning to use 4140 or 4340 as top platen, a square plate with thickness of 1.5". which one would be stronger against large deflection because the platen will be under hydraulic compression on its center by 75000lb?

Hello all, which part of ASME is talking about longitudinal crack on a boiler tube. We got a 4-5 inches crack on down comers side and I need to follow ASME code to repair that. Your advice is highly appreciated. Thanks
