Stress Wizard simulation report young's modulus input

I ran the NX stress wizard on a part, upon completion it generates a simulation report (html file) showing lots of values for the material properties. Most of these values are listed as not defined or null, as is the value for Young's Modulus (E). Since I am running this stress wizard to proof...

NX stress wizzard force applied to point

I would like to apply a force on point on a surface to see how a construction behaves under that load. I use the NX Stress Wizzard and can select planes and lines, however not point. I know there is a mesh point option but that seems to be only available in the Pre/After module. Since I am using...

White background behind annotation in drafting view

Is there a way to have a white background behind the digits of an annotation? I can't avoid putting some dimensions over the geometry in a drafting view, I would like them to have a small white background (like text box colour background in powerpoint) that covers the geometry so that they can...

Wrap decal around a cylindrical surface

Hi Jackie, I just discovered that the workflow you are refering to corresponds to NX 10. I'm using NX 11 with the improved rendering module using Iray materials. I can not find a similair solution, I also tried to apply the decal as a texture inside the material (similar to what you described)...

Wrap decal around a cylindrical surface

Hi Jackie, thanks for the tip I'm eager to follow it up. But where can I find the new Material feature? Is this still possible in NX 11 with the new Iray materials?

Wrap decal around a cylindrical surface

Already cut the part in half to prevent the decal from mirroring. This is the best I could get, as you see it's not wrapped around the surface but rather projected, even though I selected the surface as normal vector.

Wrap decal around a cylindrical surface

I want to put a logo on a model of a cylindrical surface. This question has been asked in this post as well but nobody replied to it. The texture mapping at least has an option to cylindrical wrap the texture but that is not the solution. http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=412536...

    Flat pattern of curved surface

Hello fellow NX users, I have created a slightly curved surface (constant radius) to represent the dashboard of a car. I added thickness to this surface to make it look like a metal sheet and have cut a few holes and cutouts in it. Now the challenge is to create a flat pattern of this part so...

    NX 10 - rendering a car

Cool Dave! Did you use a real lightsource for the headlights?

    NX 10 - rendering a car

OK thanks guys, I just added some more images to test a few things. I have removed the carbon fibre material temporarily to speed up the rendering process while I'm looking for the right settings. These last four images are unedited and I think the colours look much better and there is more...

    NX 10 - rendering a car

Hello fellow NX users, I have heard a lot about the new rendering module in NX 10, especially the new raytraced studio. Having just migrated from 8.5, this really looks like a big enhancement. Having worked with 3DMax in the past to render projects once they were completely finished (because of...

NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

Is there a way to temporarily disable the decals applied to a model in Ray Traced Studio? I don't want to delete the decals from the model/assembly because they have been carefully positioned. Is there a rendering setting that controls the display of the decals maybe?

Dedicated "light" assembly for rendering purposes - good idea?

Thanks for your answer...so you think hiding components will help saving memory?

Dedicated "light" assembly for rendering purposes - good idea?

I am considering to build a dedicated "light" assembly for rendering purposes. The assembly in question is quite heavy and contains a lot of geometry that will not be visible from the outside. I think it would be a good idea to make a seperate assembly and delete all of the geometry that won't...

NX 8.5 thread callout not showing in drafting view

I have made a drawing (master-model) of a part that has a threaded hole in it. I would like this threaded hole callout to appear on the drafting view. I have been using the insert>dimension>feature parameters function, then selected the features in the list, the drafting view (a pattern) I would...

    NX 10 rendering crash

I've been very much looking forward to trying out the new rendering capacities in NX 10. The result is rather disappointing however: When I try to switch to Ray Traced Studio the system crashes and I get the following error message, any idea what might be causing...

NX 8.5 loading sub-assembly with linked geometry fails

I'm trying to open a sub assembly directly into the main assembly because I want to create some new linked geometry links. When I try to open the assembly there is a message saying "Updating linked face (25). 1 remain". I can open the subassembly on its own and have suppressed all the linked...
