NX 8.5 loading sub-assembly with linked geometry fails

I'm trying to open a sub assembly directly into the main assembly because I want to create some new linked geometry links. When I try to open the assembly there is a message saying "Updating linked face (25). 1 remain". I can open the subassembly on its own and have suppressed all the linked geometry in an effort to prevent the program from trying to load any missing geometry. Without any result however. Does anyone have any best practice advise?

Problem solved by fixing some broken links with the interpart links browser...
