    Crushing of WSP 2

What precisely is the question that you are asking here? Fcperp is a unique attribute of wood that has values assigned based on a proportional limit approach. This differs from the approach used for other properties (fcparallel, Fb, Fv, etc). Be aware that OSB does not typically have uniform...

Another how to fix it thread

maybe this is only a west coast concern, but what exactly is the developed diaphragm capacity of a 23/32" subfloor panel nailed to air?

    Python programming assistance needed

So I'm curious, what have you tried at this point in time? Sounds like you're doing some fishing for answers which can be a good exercise sometimes. I have no experience with Python integration with outlook's desktop application. Is it possible? Maybe, hard to say. How will you ensure the email...

    Foundation Reinforcement

What calculations have you performed to check the plate? You're asking us if the plate thickness is sufficient, but how have you confirmed that yourself?

    Help Calculating Ledger Connection

I read the plan check comments more as pointing to needed seismic anchorage back into the structure, rather than checking for withdrawal of the fasteners into the ledger. Did you provide connections for the deck back into the main structure, or did you design them as separate structures, and...

    How to fix this?

Thanks for asking, I use a pallet jack. Don't want to get too crazing with loading on the floor. We don't typically do much cooking, so we park it next to the kitchen island. I'm told that's the strongest place in any house.

    How to fix this?

I typically store my hot tub inside the house during the winter, I usually conserve the water and don't drain the tub.

    Truss Reactions

Throwing my hat in here, I always just ratio the given reaction. Is it a perfect solution? No, but it's close enough to satisfy me. If a reaction is give as 1387lbs, and the design loading overtop is 15psf TC DL, 5psf BC DL, 20 RL, 35 SL, I'll just assume a worst-case load combo (DL + SL) and...

Wood Header/Beam out of plane (F2) connection

Chapter(s) 11 and 12 provide all the info needed. You'll take a 0.67 adjustment for end grain factor, but you'll still get the Cd factor of 1.6, so those two essentially wash out. You'll need to nail through only (1) ply of the double king, or use a very long nail, because NDS 12.1.6.4 requires...

Diagonal sawn lumber as roof diaphragm

Ah, how interesting. There used to be one, but I do not see it anymore either. I'll have to explore. @phamENG originally pointed the zoom feature out on a previous post, wonder if he has an option.

Diagonal sawn lumber as roof diaphragm

The entire PDF is loaded into an i-frame viewer. What does that mean for you? That means that there is a zoom button on the bottom of the viewer window that allows you to zoom into the PDF directly, this prevents blurriness. I assume you were trying to ctrl+mouse wheel to zoom in, which is a...

    Cantilevered Wood Floor Joists

On your drawing you indicate less than 2ft. From a code standpoint, I am going to buck everyone else's opinion on this one and say that these should be pressure treated. In unconditioned crawl spaces, IBC requires at least 18" for untreated wood, this is exterior with likely less than 18" airgap...

    Code reference for greenhouses

I'd generally assume lower loads are due to lower risk category associated with a greenhouse. See table 1604.5 in 2018 IBC.

    structural

    Probably best to fix it.

    House proposed renovation

Does my proposed solution seem appropriate? I don't know, what work have you performed to determine if your solution is appropriate or not? Are there specific considerations I should keep in mind? Typically, yes shoring, installation detailing, and creep effects immediately come to mind, I'm...

    Calculate Normal Force

Does each member have identical length and stiffness?

    eccentric floor truss connection

For facemount connection with a wood web filler, you are not inducing any meaningful eccentricity, as you are loading the steel beam web directly. Unless you are assuming the wood filler block is directly loading the bottom flange at some bearing distance, d, away from edge of flange? In that...

    eccentric floor truss connection

I don't agree, the floor sheathing will restrain the nailer plate, which is directly connected to the steel beam. Alternatively, when we start getting into significant lateral torsional buckling deflections, any deflection in the top flange of the steel beam will then load axially into the joist...

    eccentric floor truss connection

Is the beam not fully restrained by the floor diaphragm? Is your bolt spacing through the nailer sufficient to restrain, and is there sufficient nailing to the floor sheathing to resolve the torsional loading?

    Removing the Stud for renovation

Tough to say. You're best bet is to contact your floor designer and/or a local structural engineer to assess the situation for you here.
