    wire routing to components

Apologies for what must be a very basic question, but I've never had to deal with wiring before in CAD so this is new to me. I have a small assembly with one component that moves 2 inches up or down depending on which arrangement is selected. I need to model some wiring going from fixed...

    drafting: dis-associated dimensions display font

How do I change the display font of dimensions that have become dis-associated in my drafting views? They used to display as dashed, which would tip me off that something with the model/drafting was wrong, but now they keep the same font as normal dimensions. I would like to change NX back to...

    help with flat solid

Any chance you could do it in NX 8? I can't open the 8.5 file. I found the clean up tool and tried to follow your method, but I'm not sure how you added the chamfers back in.

    help with flat solid

    Yes it is NX8.

    help with flat solid

I'd like to generate a "unrolled" or "flat" 3D body of the attached part. Converting to sheetmetal and then generating a flat solid is not giving the desired results (edges that should be beveled are square and I'm not confident it is calculating the profile correctly). Anyone know how to get...

Moving from NX6 to NX8. Key differences I should know about?

I have not had time to research this at all. What are the key differences between NX6 and NX8 that I might prefer to know before I start using NX8 next Monday. Thanks in advance...

    NX made me happy because....

I use synchronous modeling all the time. It's a huge time saver like you said.

using formulas/linked parts in distance assembly constraint

I'm using NX 6.0.5.3. I am having some trouble figuring out how to make the position of one component change based of the measured distance between two other components. Let me explain in a little more detail: I have a simple pulley setup; two pulleys with a single continuous rope around...

NX Error: "Part is not a valid version of component part"

I've experienced this error, and my best guess is that the assembly file has certain bits of data stored in it about each component. If, while loading a component it notices a difference between this data and what it is loading, it throws the error (because it thinks the component is different...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

Tomas, thank you very much for your help. I tried to make a simple block spin as you suggested, and it didn't work. What version of NX are you using? I wonder if RecurDyn is broken in my version, 6.0.5.3. I don't think that I'm experiencing a license issue, because it will solve and animate...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

More info. I have found a solution. Sorta. I changed the solver from RecurDyn to Adams and was able to solve the model and successfully animate. However, I had to move my files to a folder location with no spaces in the path (c:\gears-test\), otherwise I would receive a error stating, "There...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

Tomas, that worked! The files you sent back animated correctly. I wonder if my default solver settings are incorrect? To test this, I hit solve on your files and then tried to animate again w/o success. My solver broke your files. [sad] (I'm happy to be on the trail of the problem though...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

Thank you Toost for taking a look! Wow. There is definitely something strange going on then as it is clearly not spinning on my machine. I wonder if I have a global setting wrong somewhere? Do I need to get CAD support to come over and reinstall NX? I've run out of ideas... Anyone else...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

Sure, no problem. Here are the gears I've been trying to animate. I'm probably just missing somethign obvious but for the life of me I can't find it! Thanks for offering to help.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=b19686b6-9bda-431c-898b-b54905ab1e28&file=gears-test.zip

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

I'm still having trouble animating anything using drivers. I created two simple gears and followed the instructions in this tutorial verbatim, but I still get no animation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlzVc2EbyWQ I am hopeful that someone knowledgeable with the software can tell me what...

    NX Personal Development

mz7dyj, that's a great tutorial but is only 1 of 2 like it on youtube. And it hasn't helped me to solve the problem I'm currently facing. Here is my thread where I spell it all out: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=329941

    NX Personal Development

I posted a question about the Motion Simulation software in another thread but it hasn't gotten any replies. Anyone know of a good resource for learning to use this tool? It looks to be very useful and I'm impressed so far with what it can do. Problem is, I'm currently learning it the slow...

    Motion Simulation: 6-DOF stewart table

Update: I got it to animate, but I had to assign an initial velocity to the table link itself. I have still not been able to animate it via a motion driver which is what I would prefer to do.

Forgot to mention I'm using NX version 6.0.5.3
