How to model conc filled column STAAD

thanks. Yep, I had actually just tried that equivalent E x x I value from a Corus ref. for Design Guide for SHS concrete filled Columns. Thanks for the AISC references.

How to model conc filled column STAAD

I have a 10m column, 1m dia 10mm thick. I need stiffen it by filling it with grout. How do I model that combined property? One member with the equivalent stiffness (not sure how) or model an unreinforced conc column and put rigid links to the steel column?

can anyone recommend one? I'll check with a few vendors later, but, as usual, if possible, info now is great.

modelling dummy members for deck plate?

Modelling deck plate. There's a way to do this, but I can't remember: Say 1m c/c x 2m, and 6mm thick, I can take an effective width of plate and model it as a truss element across the diagonals, bd3/12 for an effective Ivalue, and give it zero density? I'm sure that modelling the full plate...

    galvanize cold formed tubing?

I'v ebeen asked toconsider galvanising cold formed tubing for handrails. typically Hybox 355 42mm x 4mm . It will mean bending to a radius of approx 300. I'm concerned about the possibility of cracking that may lead to premature corrosion of the rails. I belive the most vulnerable part will be...

what test loads for temp lift beams?

I'm trying to find a reference for how much to load test a lift installation aid. lift load 10 tonnes, suspended from a padeye that is welded to a temporary lift beam. The temporary lift beam is bolted (lindapters in tension) to existing deckbeams. THere's a table somewhere that i've seen that...

bs6399 wind code advice - global coefficients?

is there a global Cpe (exteral wind perssure) for roof loading? i'm determining wind loads on a 15 x 30m x 8m high shed with a 12 degree pitched roof. I've just waded through all the local pressure co-eff checks, Fig 20 etc. is there a quicker way that i have missed to generate wind loads for...
