    Two Stroke Power Valves.

Thanks for the detailed info everyone, though I still haven't found any really good info (with drawings etc.) on the net. ZEDRIDER, In the more modern versions,is the resonant chamber still used, (as well as port timing variations?)

    Two Stroke Power Valves.

Looks like we are getting some response at last! So what actuates the valve? I know that the particular type on my Suzuki barrels is operated by cables, but what sort of mechanism actually provides the power? and what instructs it to move, - is it normally some sort of mechanical arrangement...

    Two Stroke Power Valves.

Thanks Dringo, I have a pair of barrels for an RG 250 and I see that he valves actually open up a chamber situated in the head (to enlarge the volume of the chamber at low RPM??). I hear that the modern ones also effectively change the exhaust port timing, but I haven't seen any of these yet...

    Two Stroke Power Valves.

Can anyone tell me where to find any info about power valve operation specifically on the Suzuki RG 250 of the late eighties? I would appreciate any information at all on the different types of power valves used on two stroke exhaust ports (old or new), up to the types being used at the moment...

    Dry sump "pictures"

Not sure what you're designing, but Honda came up with an innovative design for lubricating their little weedeater four stroke ( not two stroke) singles. It consists of a seperate cylindrical oil tank mounted behind the crankcase, concentric with the shaft. The shaft has an agitator attached...

Two stroke engine orientation and durability

Two stroke engines can operate in any orientation when they use a "pumper" carb ( as opposed to a float chamber) like a Walbro or Tillotson, Zama etc. These carbs are equipped with a small diaphragm pump and diaphragm operated metering valve, replacing the float chamber. The pump is operated by...

    BSP adapter into BSPT hole

Well, I guess I shouldn't knock it if I haven't tried it! - maybe I'm getting too old and not up with the play on the latest methods anymore!

    BSP adapter into BSPT hole

Sure, it would probably work to some degree, but remember it will only be holding by 1-2 full threads, and the "goo" is really only a stop gap, - I think that with a tiny little bit of effort you could find a suitable 1/8 BSPT male (for peace of mind), they're not that scarce! it's a pretty...

4 into 2 stroke using cam....would it run?

We do seem to have defaulted back to four stroke engines! I thought the subject was on converting a four stroke to two stroke - ?? Now if you use a two lobe cam at quarter crank speed, that's the same as the original four stroke single lobe at half crank speed, - right? However, a two lobed...

4 into 2 stroke, using NO cams and exhaust port?

ICGUY, If you study modern (or ancient)two strokes, you will see that the piston skirt effectively seals the exhaust from the crankcase, there will not be any great pressures involved here, and a ring will not be necessary, this is a well proven method.(used daily in millions of two strokes). I...

    The Bourke Engine

When I was a teenager, I had a ride in one of those three cylinder Commer TS3 trucks, and although it had a noisy exhaust, it ran extremely smoothly. Seems that they were very economical engines for their time and many of them found their way into boats. I believe that this design of this...

    Reversing a universal motor.

Firstly, thanks for all the replies, sites to visit etc. The motor is old, and I'm not sure that this company exists anymore. Nameplate reads:- Metropolitan Vickers, ( Type CKS 3014 )...

    Reversing a universal motor.

This thing is starting to get a little involved for a non electrical guy. There are 4 brushes mounted on a moveable backplate, this can be revolved around the commutator axis by approx 40 deg. Does this change the timing? it does not change the direction of rotation. There are 4 wires coming...

    Reversing a universal motor.

Thanks for your reply, looks like you are right when you say that it may not be designed for reversal, I found a label inside saying that was for non-reversing applications.

    Reversing a universal motor.

I have a 1.5 HP commutator motor running on 230V AC, I need to be able to reverse the rotation, can anyone point me to some data on this type of motor, or how I can carry out this modification. It is an old Metropolitan Vickers, ( type CKS 3014. 230/450 V. )...
