    combining static and dynamic analyses

Abaqus has a room for coupled thermal-displacement analysis which u can then feed into your dynamic analysis using Abaqus "restart" capability.

    Thermal Stress In Abaqus

Do you have a pictorial representation of what you are trying to model and I may be able to help out. As Corus already mentioned, its not a coupled thermal-displacement problem unless there is an external force system acting somewhere alongside a change in temperature ( i.e thermal...

Normal force from contact pressure (CPRESS in Abaqus)

you have to be very careful using direct normal or tangential forces calculated by Abaqus in any contact analysis. you need to understand fully how abaqus simulates contacts and how it derives forces for each given contact formulation abaqus uses. Barely ticking CFN in the Field output doesnot...

3-2-1 Constraints approach in FEA analysis.

To Gbor, Sorry I didn't intend to say you were advertizing the software..Just thought user interactivity was fully thought when the software was being created. I would be keen to try it out and see how it benchmarks some of the other known FE softwares. Put it simple, the concept of 3-2-1 is...

    ABAQUS mesh refine

You have to make sure you are in the Part module when you seed your edge or surface area during mesh refinement in Abaqus.

3-2-1 Constraints approach in FEA analysis.

Ok, good link..thought the roshaz software was pretty impressive... althought looks like its only a pre and post precessor with no independent solver. The example in the movie clip with the 3-2-1 constraint abit misleading. Higher stresses occuring at the node positions where the body was...

3-2-1 Constraints approach in FEA analysis.

Does a 3-2-1 constraint approach really makes much difference in a Non-Linear analysis. Also, from mathematical point of view, what other benefit does it provide in linear static analysis apart from the widely aclaimed balance of global forces and does it mtter which plane the contraints...

    Pins with grease Holes

Thanks rb1957, I completely understand that, however does it actually make much difference to the stresses acting(in reality) considering that the grease holes are quite small. Also, do you need to account for Kt effect given that the hole is somewhat a stress feature in itself. Regards.

    Pins with grease Holes

I would be very much appreciative if anyone could assist with reference material on analysis of Pins with greased holes. I know Bhrun did touched on the topic but not in great details. I am particularly concerned about the effect of the grease holes on the section modulus of the Pin in bending...

    Fatigue analysis

Badri07, Depends on which fatigue analysis you are trying to teach yourself. There's classical fatigue analysis and there's also FE fatigue analysis. As a beginer you would need a very good grounding in theorectical fatigue analysis. I would recommend :Fatigue of Structures and Materials by...

    Stress Analysis Text Book

Thanks ....could you recommend any good textbook that covers analytical stress analysis covering pressure vessels, fatigue damage and failure analysis, unsymmetrical bending and inelastic buckling..

    Stress Analysis Text Book

Hi ya all, Just wondering if any one could help with a very good stress analysis text book that covers in detail analytical stress analysis techniques as well as some basic FEA. I currently have T.G Megson's book but just wanted to know if there are other books much better than megson's book...

    POINT LOADING IN I-DEAS FEA

Thanks Jelmerra, I duly appreciate your assistance. With regards to the ply material definition, I could say that the plies are correctly defined as I-DEAS infor plane section shows that an orthotropic MDS material data has been created and when I look into the Orthotropic section of the...

    POINT LOADING IN I-DEAS FEA

Thank you Jelmerra,..sorry 'm abit new to using I-DEAS for composite simulation could you kindly explain how I can move from Geomtry to Fe-mode?. Also after you have created your laminate, do you save it to the Directory or back-up?. Whenever I create my laminates from plies, I normal save to...

    POINT LOADING IN I-DEAS FEA

Thanks rb, yeah you right, i ment to say applying a point load on a surface. I tried the node application, but IDEAS ldnt recognize the nodes which i created..
