No - you could create a custom dialog but there is no default string dialog in UIDL.

The example he has given assumes that you are using ansys multiphysics which, by the looks of your output window, FlexLm is telling you you don't have.

You need to increase the amount of memory your giving ansys to work in.
The scratch space is the total workspace - database space (you should see this as you enter interactive mode - if your using interactive mode that is).
Just increase teh total workspace.
Just out of interest are you using Ansys 5.6 on an HP machine? If so the fix is to dl a patch from HP called the "3D Common Runtime patch".
If not can you post the details of ansys version and machine.

I'm wondering if you've ever used DAO, ADO or SQL before. This is pretty simple db traversing. Probably better if you read up on it yourself first. Most vb sites have good tutorials on it
