    Hss and toolsteel comparability

We need to manufacture a part that will break on contact when bumped or hit in any way. This part will be mounted on a limit switch to a machine. The part which will have a radial undercut in the middle is designed to break at this point. So the material that will be needed will have to have a...

    Hss and toolsteel comparability

We need to manufacture parts with a material that will have the same hardness and brittleness after heat treatment as High Speed Steel Does anyone have an answer as to what kind of tool steel would be comparable

Tensile strength Vs Shear-pin Material type?

There are some materials that do not break on a single impact. The material bends sometimes past 90 degrees without beakage, and sometimes you have to bend it 2 or 3 times to break it examples 12L14 steel 6061 aluminum. What i need is a material that has little to no elasticity, do you know of...

Tensile strength Vs Shear-pin Material type?

The part that I need to manufacture will be made to the dimensions of about 1/4" diameter with an M4 thread(which will thread into the machine housing)on the opposite end there will be a groove with a .04 full radius machined to approx diameter of .080 machined on that opposite end will be a...

    Machining of Hastalloy

The only luck I had Machining Hastelloy .220 drill 30 SFM .004-.006 chip load M6 roll tap 60 RPM General milling 60-80 sfm Tin coated carbide or multicoated ticn tialn Thru hole coolant is very helpfull

    Heat treating O-1?

how can I heat treat O-1 toolsteel with out buying expensive equipment ovens etc. Would I need a special quenching oil? The parts that i need to heat treat are not that critical, but need hardening

Tensile strength Vs Shear-pin Material type?

I have been asked to manufacture a shear pin out of some form of steel or iron. It will be used to break off, when a touch probe over travels its safe area on a CNC machine tool. I need a material that is brittle, so it will break when needed. And i need a material that will be strong enough to...

    thermal expansion shrink fit

Does the size of the part matter in this specific calculation? In other words if I were to increase the diameter by 2 inches in diameter on the hole and the shaft would the amount of material to be heated make a difference for the total temperature calculated?

    thermal expansion shrink fit

Need to find formula for calculating the temperature for shrink fitting a .250 steel shaft into a .2485 diameter hole. Does any one know a formula for finding the temerature increase of this hole.
