Turbine Lube Oil Moisture and Dust Removal

Guys. We're not using the centrifugal machine now. There's two machines used interchangeably. Plate-frame type filter papers based machine (https://images.app.goo.gl/KvJP8mRCDE2eJ23W7) and a vacuum oil purifier (https://www.cqpuretech.com/Vacuum-Turbine-Oil-Filtration-Machine-p.html). Anyone...

    Steam Turbine Parameters

I'm a new recruit at a thermal power plant. I want to read on different steam turbine parameters like absolute expansion, eccentricity, key phasor, soaking times, start-up curve, differential expansion and how to make sense of these changing parameters during start-up etc. Any documents would be...

    Cooling Tower Query

I got it. Thanks to all of you! 👍

    Condensate Pipelines

I have the H42H-40 type NRVs installed. The loop seal is okay. The drain if installed after the NRV can drain the liquid but the liquid column just above the NRV might be keeping NRV to lift up, resultingly the recirculation of flow within the fan increasing the local temperature of fan. WHAT...

Turbine Lube Oil Moisture and Dust Removal

The temperature at inlet of centrifuge is around 50 degrees. The machine has a built-in heater which trips at 52 deg C.

    Cooling Tower Query

@EDStainless: Thanks for the reply. I plan on making one model in excel. Got any sample spreadsheets to start with?

    Cooling Tower Query

@RVAmech: Thanks for the reply, so it means if at times the demand is less or plant is at low power, the range will be high cause of more heat rejection in condenser and this can even become larger in winters due to decreased wet bulb temperatures right?

Turbine Lube Oil Moisture and Dust Removal

I am a fresh engineer at a thermal power plant and there is an ongoing issue with the turbine lube oil being dusty and moist nowadays here. There are two machines interchangeably being used for turbine lube oil tank. One is paper filtration-based machine using filter papers to remove the...

    Cooling Tower Query

I am a fresh engineer at a thermal power station, and I have noted that the range (delta of inlet and outlet temperatures of water) of cooling tower varies on different days of month i.e. sometimes the range is 3 degrees C and sometimes it is 7 degrees C. What could be the reason behind this...

    Condensate Pipelines

I have two 100% capacity gland seal fans extracting non-condensable gases/steam from the gland steam condenser (for steam turbine's gland seal steam) installed with NRVs downstream of fans. One of the fans showed normal current, its NRV showed no abnormal sound, but the NRV's downstream line...

    Jacking Oil Pump Calculations/Selection

Hi All, I am a junior mechanical engineer at a thermal powerplant and I am learning new things on daily basis. I was wondering about the calculation/selection of jacking oil pumps used to jack the steam turbine rotor during turning gear operation/low rpm scenarios. Any help regarding how to...

    Tank Volume Calculation

Attached is the drawing. Effective tank capacity is 9 cubic metres. https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f56bc56a-0261-43a2-bd56-5502fef01ff4&file=IMG20230820234518.jpg

    Tank Volume Calculation

I have to find volume of a S.T. lube oil tank having a generic normal rectangular shape on the outside. But on the inside, there's baffles and compartments of different sizes. The problem at hand is, I want to predict amount of oil lost/to pe replenished in 'millimeters lost' parameter. But the...
