Hi,
I tried finding the torque for the motor, just want to make sure if this makes sense.
The wheel is being pushed to the drum with a force, the drum is 3-4 times bigger in diameter compared to the wheel.
I did T= F*perpendicular distance.
I am using the radius of the drum, because the wheel...
There is a groove between the square and the shaft as a means for transition to smaller diameter. You are correct, this groove will be my high stress area. You are correct, I am after the failure of the system because of the groove. Do I just need to do Torsion calculation? how can I do that...

Thank you for your feedback.
I think DIN EN 12532 is the closest standard. Only think different is the brake addition to generate tractive force.
Only the drum is driven which drives the wheel, I need the brake applied to the wheel to generate a tractive force. I will be working with this I...

Yes, I searched for it, but I couldn't find anything about brakes.
did you say Vfd or vid? on a drive motor? I am not sure if I understood. Are you implying that a brake can be used in conjunction with the drive motor? I am powering the drum with the motor which turns the wheels.
It's for testing wheels of different sizes, tested on a rotating drum (WHEEL ENDURANCE TESTING). To find the slippage in the x direction where the wheel contacts the drum
Hi All,
A quick question about Brakes, if I need to use one brake for different size wheels. Is it feasible? If yes, if anyone can guide me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.
Hi All,
I have to size a motor for a rotary device (a drum). The drum has a normal force applied to it. What would be the best way to size a motor for such a system?
Thank you.
Hi All,
I have a quick question regarding rubber testing.
Is it correct to compare Tear strength tests from ISO and ASTM between ISO 34-1 Method A and ASTMD624 Die C?
Are they the same?
Thank you :)
Hi All,
I have a shaft attached with this thread. I have couple questions:
1) What would be the best way to control the central axis of the shaft given I have a square end on one side.
2) How to calculate torsion for such a shaft?
3) It's a power transmitting shaft, what would be a good setup...
Hi All,
I am working on a project similar to this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iuya2buTQKE). My question is how we can size a motor for such a system. If my wheel is pushing on the drum with a vertical force, what would be the best way to record the horizontal force (Slippage) on the wheel...
