    Phase transformation in 3d printing

I want to simulate phase transformation in wire and arc layer additive manufacturing on a substrate test plate in ABAQUS. Which subroutines do I need? I know USDFLD is a must. What about HETVAL and how can I use them simultanously? Can you suggest any papers to use Phase transformation model?

    Dflux Subroutin for Welding

The process is Wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and there is not such module in abaqus AM 2023.Can we use FDM module instead of that?

    microstructure analysis in ABAQUS

Hi, I'm going to simulate additive manufacturing process in abaqus on test plate. My goal is obtianing mechanical and microstructural outputs. Is it possible to get microstructure or phase transition output with subroutine? What is the best choice? I hope you can give me your advice.

    Dflux Subroutin for Welding

Dear Experts, I want to simulate a simple WAAM process in which Heat Source moves along a straight line (end of step 9) and then goes back. Model of heat is Double ellipsoidal Goldak and the subroutine is attached. After running the job, it is completed but at the end of forward movement it...

Hydro test acceptance acc. to API 6A

Please take a look at these paragraphs: 11.2.4.2 Test Method—PSL 2, PSL 3, and PSL 4 For PSL 2, PSL 3, and PSL 4, the following shall apply. a) The general requirements of 11.1 and 11.2.1 shall apply. b) Hydrostatic test pressure shall be not less than the rated working pressure of the valve...

Hydro test acceptance acc. to API 6A

How can we distinguish between condensation and leakage?

Hydro test acceptance acc. to API 6A

Hi, What is the acceptance criteria for hydrostatic testing of gate valves according to API 6A? We see some points like dew on the surface of gate.Is it acceptable? Can we consider it as leakage? The surface of gate and seat is WC coated.

    Shell element thickness

I don't know how to find the amount of thickness reduction in this warning, in order to position rollers relative to each other?! The thickness used in the general contact algorithm for elements in element set WarnElemGContThickReduce has been reduced. See the status file for further details.

    Shell element thickness

I'm working on forming of sheet metal. The element type is S4R. I want to know whether I should consider the thickness of shell for the Gap between rollers or not? The shell section offset is Bottom type. Thickness is 12 mm.

    Characteristic element length

FEA way You are right but I don't know how to calculate fracture energy. It depends on L and Total fracture area.

    Characteristic element length

How can I calculate Characteristic element length and Fracture energy for Damage evolution in ductile damage module in ABAQUS? Suppose that: 1-The model has S4R shell element 2- The finest element shape is like the picture 3- Type of mesh is Orphan mesh 4- Total Fracture area below the...

Resolve Element & General Contact Warning

Hi, How can I resolve following warnings? Abaqus IS UNABLE TO ESTIMATE AN AVERAGE INTERFACE ELEMENT LENGTH. THE WHOLE MODEL CHARACTERISTIC ELEMENT LENGTH IS USED INSTEAD. & OP=NEW on *CONTACT is ignored when the general contact definition is specified as model data

Selection of Shell element or Sold in spinning Process

Could you please mention the main changes in Abaqus settings with continuum shell instead of conventional shells?

Selection of Shell element or Sold in spinning Process

In explicit as you know we don't have several option for shell parts.I was forced to select S4R and the only problme is that the edge of sheet gets wavy! Does the shell element (instead of solid) affect this problem? BTW Springback is dominant. How can I avoid these problems as much as possible?

Selection of Shell element or Sold in spinning Process

Hi, I'm working on sheet metal spinning process with following characterization: Thickness: 12 mm OD of Preformed Sheet: 1100 mm Material : AISI 304L Solver: Dynamic Explicit Which Element do you recommend for this situation? I worked on S4R and I'm not sure about my selection. Thanks

How can I apply boundary condition

In this work there is not any holes. Is it possible to solve this by the hole in the middle of plate? where I should apply the BC? Just on the edge of the hole?
