If I've read your post correctly, the process sounds quite deep (into the page) which normally indicates plane-strain as there's really nowhere for material to deform into in the z direction (the conditions of the material are much the same wherever you are along the z axis so they'll push back...
I was hoping there would be a way to display the experimental results on top of the display of the finite elements results.
Looks like I'll have to export the data and display it in MATLAB. The structure's more complex than excel can handle.
That script's going to take a while to write.
From the documentation is seems that the two objects named in the error are positioned such that they intersect each other too much for the solver to be able to fix it and move forward.
If this is the first increment I suppose you need to move them apart, if not I'd guess you need to lower...
ABAQUS can be rather .. picky where cracks are concerned.
I have always created them through the "Special" menu in the interaction module.
Define your 2D geometry first with no crack.
Sketch the crack as a partition. (It doesn't matter that it doesn't completely enclose a region for some...
Sounds like you'd be better posting over in one of the other forums like "Mechanical Engineering Other Topics" (for example).
This also sound suspiciously like a homework question.
I have two sets of data i would like to display concurrently within ABAQUS 6.10.
The first data set consists of experimental measurements of displacement at discreet points on a structure.
The second set of data is the result of a modal analysis of this structure done within ABAQUS.
I would...
