While I find myself muddling through the new A 5.36 grouping, in reading table U.9 the far column references Annex V. Am I the only one that does not have Annex V in my 2015 AWS D1.1?
Thanks
No worries, ASME guy here being held to D1.1. My understanding of D1.1 is becoming decent, it never hurts to run it pass another set of eyes. Now if I can only convince them to design the skid to D1.1 as joint design is more of a variable than it is in ASME.. Thank you for the input.
It is my interpretation that pre-qualified WPS's (SMAW parameters) can not be used if CVN applies to the job. Is this correct?
To clarify the alternative, I will make a single v groove test tab, back weld it with GTAW and fill it with SMAW.
I am not held to writing only one WPS it is just...
One WPS with GTAW for root deposits and SMAW for fill welding and PJP fillet welds when applicable?
WPS to AWS D1.1 2010
Base metal thickness range is .25" - 375" for fillet welds, .3125" - .375" for CJP open root welds w/o backing or gouging.
CVN applies
Qualify two tabs both single v-grooves...
Is there anything allowing sec.IX WPS's qualified with CVN to sec.VIII earlier than 2013 to be used on 2013 and newer Div. VIII work without adding the new CVN requirements of UG-84.6, if applicable?
Just as the title implies, I am looking for a Word or Excel template for tube sheet welding. In the world of everything electronic finding a template would save me some time.
The only thing I could find was a tube sheet rolling/expansion PQR, http://bpvinspector.com/pages/Section_IX.htm

Why are both Supplementary and Nonessential marked for QW-409.4 & QW-410.9?
Questioning QW410.9:
If a .249"T PQR is welded with one layer of GTAW for the root and one layer of SMAW for the fill/reinforcement; will the WPS be qualified multipass or single pass?
IN other words, does QW-410.9...
ASME Sec II, Part C SFA-5.01(5) Lot Classifications 5.1.1-5.1.4; is Class S4 the most stringent lot control classification?
Are the classifications in order of least stringent (Class S1) to most stringent (Class S4)?
For those that may find themselves in the same situation. The following link is the best i could find.

Agreed that one shall always write/review them thoroughly by hand, but for organization the software below is very useful. Having over 1,000 WPS's and PQR's with current updates from the company its automatic generation has never been proven wrong. As mentioned by others it has been...
All,
It appears this has been brought up in years past but none of the referenced links seem to work. Much like our trustworthy DOS based Ferrite software does to not like modern advancements in Windows...
Does anyone know of any online or purchasable programs that will predict Ferrite? Out...
Along the lines of impact values can someone enlighten me on why CVN values can produce results like this, ex) 100-22-150 ft/lbs @ -21? I see it quite often (usually when CVN values are what is desired in testing) and it boggles my mind. Weld coupons are x-rayed indicating no inclusions.
We have Bortech equipment but found ourselves in short need of the shaft. We decided to us the manual FCAW process and the build up is looking good. We ended up removing 3/16" below the thread root.
I am presuming this is a quench and tempered shaft as well. Original prints do not indicate...
I have a 7' 4340 shaft roughly 16" in diameter. On one end it has male threads where it is screwed into a press and never removed. On the other end it has female threads roughly 12" into the shaft and is used regularly when changing dies. The threads were ruined when the press recently broke...
Thank you for the response. This is not my project so I am only helping to find the wire & I do not know all of the exact details. We are experiencing chemistry variations between the deposits from the EN/ISO and the AWS/SFA specifications. Also I have not read the acceptance in the SFA but I...
I have read a closed thread on this topic from 2010 with minimal success. I am looking for information on where I can purchase AWS/ASME A5.9 ER309LMo.
Houston office Kobelco, TG-S309MoL claimed they did not make it even though it is in their catalog
Metrode is close, just not the same...
