Hi I got this issue occur during the first power on of the vsd there is a cracking then smoke comes out from the device then breaker trip. What could be the possible reason why this issue occur. It could be earth to phase short or IGBT/Thyristor as well.
Both is correct and the photo on the right is to ensure that the equipment is always connected to earth you have less chance of floating earth on your motor.
