Thanks Joy for reply...this i am aware of , what i want is how to get the details inside NX in a note? example : I ahve few custom names need these details in a PMI Note or Table in modeling side.

How to extract Part navigator properties to a Note or excel within NX? Part navigator properties - Name,Layer,Status,Created by,Created date etc.

These things are easy in theory,but when companies have millions of drawings/models its bit difficult to convert/integrate legacy data into new formats. Configuration control also another matter need to be simplified without too much issues.

You just ask them whether they want to control the profile from specific datum's.I guess X,Y & Z are datum derived from casting surface...

@John, Not old timers but many of my colleagues who are just 7 to 8 years experience in NX [UG?] still call it as Unigraphics..NX is rarely used ; )

Check whether Attributes IGNORE_MEMBER or REFRENCE_COMPONET will work.You can find them in File - properties [Individual parts]. Not sure whether you have to add this attributes manually.

Not sure how it works in Solidworks, build a material library. Easy to apply/change materials.

If you have tool available to pull data from CAD model you add Material/Weight and other attributes automatically. Another option we use is add is if there is any critical dimension in particular sheet.

Tried Perpendicular & Horizontal dimensions? If nothing works better to add a reference line.

Is it possible to show only notes in a Model view when opening JT? This is for PMI, Notes are in a separate layer but when opening this specific view model also visible along with notes. Any setting can be changed in JT configuration file? NX 8.5.3

^ That type of issues are always considered and there are strict quality process. i am talking about simple parts which are used repeatedly for many years. Any new design will be taken care with all due diligence.

Looks like i used wrong words. We use tighter tolerance when function requires,remaining time we just go with default tolerances.So far things working fine.

KENAT , its not as simple as I wrote. We make 100,000 sheet metal parts [various sizes/shapes] per year for our products in-house. Majority of the parts are Class C parts [doesn't affect overall function of product much]. We use customized programs to generate parts, very little inspection...

KENAT, Dimensioning scheme is as per standard any way. Only when there is tighter tolerance required we can change the scheme and go with GD&T. Atleast in some area of sheet metal work hammer will take care any variation at end ;)

Looks like Custom background is used to change background color in True shading editor [similar to Preference -background] Can you check True shading editor - Background. There are options like Custom plain/Custom Graduated.

Asit,how does part manufactured? In our case flat sheet is cut first [Nest method used to cut different size parts together] and then all holes/slots machined..later it will be formed to specific angles.The tolerance is fixed for this holes/slots. Only threads/chamfers will be done after...
