    Security system recommendations.

There are also game cameras that will transmit captured images via wifi (camera as host/access point) or via 3g/4g cellphone (provide your own sim card and data plan). The latter would be my likely choice if I ever get another hunting lease.

    Security system recommendations.

After my neighbors had their wheels stolen last year, I adjusted my surveillance setup. Previously I had a single wide-angle camera and IR illuminator to record footage of activities on my street. Now I've re-aimed that camera and zoomed in so that it captures a clear view of the rear of any...

What´s maximum static compression ratio appliable to LPG?

Like the others, I don't have a hard figure for max CR. I can say that LPG has a pretty low Cat methane number of about 33 (Methane Number is an anti-knock index for gaseous-fuel engines), so it is much more likely to have knock issues than natural gas with about 87 MN(pure methane = 100 MN)...

Finalizing the forming of a replacement car window winder spring (special multi-shaped)

sorry, I misunderstood. Maybe these will help? http://springsteelstock.co.uk/hardening-and-tempering/ https://www.acxesspring.com/how-to-heat-treat-spring-steel.html It has been a while since I did anything important with spring design, but I didn't think the spring tension was affected by the...

Finalizing the forming of a replacement car window winder spring (special multi-shaped)

if the material properties and cross section of the "beam" are correct, and the shape of the beam is correct in the free state, then you should have the right tension when you deform the spring to install it. A spring has no tension when it's free, and the tension is created by elastically...

Mystery - TV With No Sound

I don't know about your TV, but I had a very similar problem with my desktop PC and a Jongo S3 speaker. In the end I took the speaker to the garage and spiked it against the floor like a football. It made some sound when I did that, but I didn't bring it back into the house.

    Ooey Gooey Rubber Feet

Greg's shoe comment reminded me of a crazy afternoon - I had met with one of our distributors for a morning meeting and lunch before going to visit a customer site. As I walked from my car to the restaurant, the entire sole of my left shoe fell off abruptly. Needless to say, I took a detour on...

    Ooey Gooey Rubber Feet

Thanks for explaining the rubber degradation - I have some cabinet door bumpers that have turned into an obnoxious sticky mess and I was wondering why that'd be.

General IC Engine Theory Question - effect of cylinder count on torque, displacement equal

Hi, I don't think the two things you mention are necessarily conflicting with each other - yes, the 6 cylinder will have 3 small firing events per rev whereas the 4 cylinder will have 2 bigger ones, so on an instantaneous basis you would have higher torque from a single cylinder ... but the...

    BSFC and RPM's

As FreddyNurk pointed out, the speed of a genset engine is a fixed ratio to the grid frequency. Small and medium 60hz gensets have been driven by either 1200rpm or 1800rpm engines, and very large ones by lower-speed engines (900rpm, etc). While increased engine speed generally has a...

No load on engine and torque?

Did you mean something else when you said it "has no load on it?"

    Aftermarket manufacturing

I had the need to replace some wheel bearings on a Ford last summer, and thought I was doing the right thing by going with the more expensive and better-known 3rd party supplier. I had one fail within 2000 miles. When I ordered a replacement, the new part arrived incomplete (missing a sensor)...

    Relationship between power and torque

I think that answer is missing a bit of detail. Changing tire diameter doesn't have exactly the same effect as reducing engine power - it has an effect similar to changing transmission or differential ratio. Assuming all your tests are done in the lowest gear, you might conclude that vehicle...

    Relationship between power and torque

another point on the wheel dynos - I've seen at least one magazine article comparing output power with different tires installed, where the tires had different diameter. They concluded that the power curve had been changed significantly, but what had really changed was the relationship between...

    Gas quality variation

Thanks - my biggest concern is around variation that happens over a duration of ~5-10 minutes, and secondarily the variation/drift that happens over a spark plug change interval, say 3-6 months. Variations slower than that could be accommodated with manual adjustments.

    Gas quality variation

Hi Georgeverghese, My question is about what the wells will put out, not what the engines can accept as input. The latter is easy to understand. Given that engines have limits on fuel quality, one has to determine whether the potential fuel supply will fall within those bounds & that's what...

    Gas quality variation

I'm trying to find some data to support a product development decision at work, and I don't have the right contacts - I need to figure out how much gas quality (LHV and MN) can swing at sites supplied by wellhead gas gathered from a few wells. Consider remote power generation for oil production...

Help re how large a reinforcement thing needs to be too not pull through a membrane

From what I've read on the internet (in preparation to eliminate noise entering my master bedroom from noisy neighbors) one of the best things to do is add a second layer of drywall, especially the special noise attenuating drywall, over the top of your existing drywall.
