MTU diesel Engine

Dear Engineers.

I came to know that MTU engine type 12V396 (950KVA-912KW) is discontinued, is that true and if there is any notifications? what is the best MTU alternative engine?

The 396 series is now the 4000 series. 12V4000 would be a direct replacement. The modern engines have much higher ratings so you may find an 8V4000 to be better suited for your application.
