I built a locally produced (Sydney Australia) '7' replica and fitted it with an Isuzu 2 litre twincam. I sold the car many years ago. The construction was in probably 1" RHS 16 gauge and as a matter of preference I glued and rivetted the aluminum panels. I used a building construction...
Would a switch from PVC foam to Al honeycomb provise you with any kind of appreciable weight saving? I would think that the primary weight saving on the carbon/Al honeycomb ski would be in the laminate. If you use PVC foam it limits you to wet layup as prepreg curing temps would damage the...
Have a look at this

and look into the operating conditions for the component. Specifically you need to ensure that the transiton point of the composite is not exceeded. The transition point is the point at which the resinsoftens and the...
You just need an Xtal and a divider for that and maybe a flip flop buffer on the O/P to give you an accurate pulse WRT the rail. Here's the whole thing in one chip

Thanks for the replies Gerald and TVP:-) I agree with you TVP, excellent summary from Gerald! Extremely useful links from you also TVP. It looks like I'll spec up the MIG machine with the aluminium stuff and get practising!

Sounds like you are just doing some experimenting :-) For some comprehensive and free information go to http://www.spsystems.com and download their 69 page applications pdf. The glossy surface you desire is only obtainable if the surface of your mold is glossy and perfect. As lflex says...
I have designed a light electric vehicle and I'd like to construct the chassis out of 2.5 inch , cold drawn 6061 aluminum tube. I have had conflicting opinions on whether it wold be better to MIG or TIG weld the structure. I'm aware that it will need to be heat treated after welding. I am...
Hi jplot
maybe a carbon fiber "pultrusion" would be the idea for this. Many companies make them some do custom shapes. Do a search on the word in Google.

Have you considered a zener diode. A zener, can set a rail voltage very accurately and in a reverse biased configuration behaves in a similar (not exact) way to a resistor in circuit. Ben Roberts

Hi all
I hope that you have had some good fortune with your folks wktaylor :-)
Now my contribution to the "puzzle" If an overly rough surface causes corrosion could this joint develop a static charge? The two conductive metal surfaces separated by a dielectric (oxide). Add some...
