Hallo guys,
Anybody knows how to represent coupled stiffness in Nastran (Off-diagonal stiffness). In abaqus, its straight forward, using connectors.
I want to compare the two codes for a particular problem. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Hi Zadrobu, I would assume the coordinate system defined for the element should help you understand the sign convension. Do a test by changing your CBUSH coordinate orientation and check the kind of signs you get for the forces ()X-axis along the CBUSH elm)
Hi guys, I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for more that 3 hours without any success, can somebody highlight me on whats wrong with the model (attached .inp file).
When I try to check the model before the run, I get the error that two elements 2900 and 2901 have no properties...
@ nlgyro : Thank you very much, that was some great observation and it was great to have learned something from all this. I thank all of you who have contributed to this question.
@ stressebookllc, Thanks buddy for making it clear. You are right, I had no means of knowing that you had removed...
@rb1957, Thanks for a great observation. The fastener really do look too co-linear. I will try to stagger some and see the outcome.
On your question, I am still young in the industry, we just fast learner, but we are getting there....)))))
@rb1957, I welcome Criticism with open arm....)))). The structure is just a protection plate (to prevent us human from hanging on a pipe behind the structure) and I just needed to calculate the interface point loads.
I am not the designer, I am the stress guy and of course I will have to make...
Which software are you using to clean the Geometry??. Can you attach the model too or it's too big?, with that, we can be on the same page as we try to solve the issue.
@ rb1957. Hallo Sir, thank you for your time.... What i meant by "Those PARAMs" are mandatory, was that: BAILOUT and AUTOSPC MUST be "NO". Our friend Stressebookllc removed AUTOSPC and when its absent, its taken as default which is "YES" and that "YES" is what we are trying to avoid.
All in...
@ stressebookllc , thats for taking your time, I do appreciate it and i can see you have very good values for the modes, but the thing is, I am using MD Nastran and those PARAMs are mandatory for the model to be accepted.
I guess i will never get around it, BUT am still trying......Thanks for...
@ rb1957, tonnes are mass units. The units have no problem. I don't get the question with the elbow joint..... Do you mean it might be rotating from that point??
@ CompositeCurves, Adding more slaves is what I thought would solve the issue, I just did that, but the results stay the same...
@ CompositeCurves
If you have time and found out something, just let me know. Thanks for taking your time.
I am also working on it, in case my solution works, I will post it.
@ CompositeCurves
Nothing is wrong with the units,
E= 73100 Nmm-2
Density = 2.78E-9 Tonmm-3
So, it can't be the units.
@ rb1957, as CompositeCurves specified, we don't need constrains for a fee-free check.
Hallo guys,
I am not newbie in NASTRAN environment, but I don't seem to crack what on earth is wrong with my model (Model Attached).
I ran a FREE-FREE check on my structure and requested for all the 'SETS', to my surprise, the model fails the 4, 5 and 6 directions while the eigenfrequencies...
I will highly appreciate your help.
I have this code which searches and Match corresponding column with exact values from another workbook. to make it more clear, in WB1 i have two columns a:a and b:b with data and on the other WB2 same BUT with more data in column a:a. all the data in column...
@ dhengr, that was something, thank you very much for those encouraging words, i will surely try to the best of my knowledge and stress the will to learn more and more.
Thank you. highly appreciated it.

Hallo My fellow experienced Engineers, my request goes. I am currently trying to prepare for an Interview for a Position of a Stress Engineer in one of Airbus Suppliers company in Germany.
Its an Entry level Interview cause i still don't have much of the experience needed. For those with...
Hallo guy,
I have a Mesh, Cquad spread in a surface form. the Mesh is a composite material. My question is, i wanted to create a hole on this mesh and then make a refinement of the mesh around this Hole. How do i go about remodelling this composite mesh to accommodate this hole. Thanks.
