If the steel surface can not be blast cleaned and surface can only be prepared to SP2/3, what would be the recommended coating system for corrosion protection? The existing coating is a 3-coat system with Zinc rich primer, epoxy intermediate coat, and polyurethane top coat.
The picture shows a 1/2" ASTM A36 steel plate from the mid-1970's. It is part of a tunnel with segmented steel liners. The tunnel is under groundwater so there has been leaking. I am puzzled what can cause a corrosion like this.
I've seen similar PT parking garage with PT beams/regular beams on the major column lines (both directions) and PT slab supported over the PT beams (in the shorter span direction) analyzed as continuous beams per unit width.
Thanks for the reply. But I am looking for specifics about the tests, i.e., whether cementitious materials used in the tests should be the same source/brand as those to be used for the construction?
@HotRod10 Say Type I cement is specified in the mix, for either test, do you require using cement from same brand/source as that used on the job, or any cement conforming to C150 Type I will do?
