The fifth pipe is the one with the dents and was wondering if there is a tolerance on the depth on the dents to cause rejection and send back to vendor. What ASTM?
Is there a tolerance for wall dents on stainless steel pipe and if so, where can I find it and what tools can be used to measure. I have 3" and 4" S/10 A312 TP304/L PIPE with wall dents.
On MSS SP-75 Section 13.5 it talks about Segmentable Elbows. My question is if it is a Spec requirement for ALL High Yield Elbows (LR, 3R, 90 degrees, 45 degrees and 180 grees) to be Segmentable or does the purchaser have to request them to be Segmantable on the Purchase Order. Also is the...
Hello
Is there an ASTM or ASME Specification on how to perform Ultrasonic Wall Thickness Measurements on Carbon, Stainless or Alloy Pipe or Buttweld Fittings? Some kind of Spec that tells you if you find an area on the pipe that is below minimum wall thickness.
I have a 2 1/2" .750 (XXS Wall) SA53/A106 SA106 API5L PSL2 B C X42 beveled end pipe that has a hexed bevel as seen in picture.
The Outside diameter is with in tolerance but I'm not sure if the Inside diameter is. Actual reading I am getting with a caliper on the Outside Diameter are 1.050 1.100...
XL83NL yes, I see the drawing, I'm trying to be technical with a 12" dial caliper. I start measuring from one end of the 90, but how exactly do I find the center, being that the area where the exact center is, is round.
I have a question. What tools do you use to find the center to end dimension on a 1/2" threaded 90 degree mallable iron fitting, and the correct way to obtain the accurate dimension? Can it be done with a dial caliper? Thanks for the advise in advance.
The reason for removing the scratches is just cosmetic purpose. It doesn't affect the wall to fall below the minimum tolerance. A flap disk is good, just wondering is someone knew osf a particular one that can be used on stainless steel without contaminating it.
I am looking to use something like an angle grinder and would like to know what kind of special disk I can use that won't contaminate the integrity of the metal. Pipe is A312 316/L. Scotch brite or sand paper will take a long time to remove a scratch.
Thanks, everyone for the suggestions.
Can anyone recommend something I can use to grind scratches off stanless steel pipe and where can I get it? Some that won't contaminate stainless steel. Please advise.
Ripz and all, thanks for your help on this. Answer to my question is the flanges are good due to the fact that A105N is not mandatory to be stamped on the flange markings, just aslong as the MTR states "A105N" on class 600# and above flanges.
Para S2.4 states " In addition to the marking required by Section 13, this specification should be followed by the letter: A for Annealed, N for Normalized, NT for Normalized and Tempered, or QT for Quenched and Tempered as appropriate". With that being stated, would the Class 600# flanges...
