    Perpendicularty to common datums

Hi Garland23 and Belanger. I like Alex Krulikowski's GD&T book. I will order the tolerance stack book. Thank you for the suggestions.

    Perpendicularty to common datums

Belanger, the main problem is my knowledge of GD&T I have several books on the topic, Al and Scott Neumann gd&t book and course and Alex K’s book. I find it terribly difficult to learn GD&T from a book/ video, and find it slow going. My next approach is going to be a course and a community...

    Perpendicularty to common datums

3DDave , thanks. I corrected the sketch. I also took a look through the ASME Y14 standard but did not see anything on using ,multiple cylindrical datum features for perpendicularity , like what is done with run out.

    Perpendicularty to common datums

Hi, I have a bores that has two features that serve as stops for the items that are press fit. There is a perpendicularity call out to datums A-B Is this simply stating that both of these features must be perpendicular to 0.15 to both datums A and B? Also will the tolerance zone for both...

Wheel Bearing Hub Lateral circular run out

I really just wanted an example(textbook, website or other resources)for performing a stack up for worst case run out. Getting into these details is too difficult with being able to post the actual print.

Wheel Bearing Hub Lateral circular run out

Thanks GregLocock. There is a circular run out tolerance call out, of 0.02mm on the face where the dial indicator is shown. I know that bore position tolerance , perpendicularity and other will affect the wobble of this face, but not sure how to compute the stack up. Seems like it would...

Wheel Bearing Hub Lateral circular run out

3DDave do you have an example of a stack up where the bearing , bore, hub GD&T is considered ?

Wheel Bearing Hub Lateral circular run out

I am looking for an example of how to perform a tolerance stack up to check the worst case circular lateral run out. I am only finding basic 1D stack examples , or 2D gap analysis type problems. Hoping someone could point me to a few good resources. I have paged through Bryan R. FISCHER...

    Radial Run Out Stack up

I believe it would be the hub bore, the surface that the bearing cones insert.

    Radial Run Out Stack up

sorry, I guess I am missing the point. Thanks for trying to help. It's probably the way I am presenting the question.

    Radial Run Out Stack up

I took the run out tolerance of the inner race and outer race and summed them to get 0.070. I.e, Inner race r/o tolerance 0.035 , and outer race 0.035. I am looking for the runout on the surface of the hub, and how both bearings run out contributes to it.

    Radial Run Out Stack up

Let's come back to the lateral run out. First I would like to see if I have the right idea for the radial stack. Would radial run out stack simply be bearing circular radial tolerance + the hub radial tolerance ( 0.070+0.075) = 0.145

    Radial Run Out Stack up

This is for a wheel bearing. I am trying to find the radial stack up of the inner and outer bearing and the hub. Circular Run Out Inner bearing = 0.070 Outer bearing = 0.070 Hub = 0.075 The datums A-B are the bores. Could I also find the lateral runout from these tolerances ?

    Radial Run Out Stack up

Thanks Tmoose. Are there any good references for doing a radial run out stack up of bearing and hub/shaft assembly, that you can suggest ?

    Radial Run Out Stack up

I have a roller bearing, the cup and cone have a circular runout tolerance. The hub that the shaft and bearing are inserted also have a circular run out tolerance. I am a trying to understand if the cup and cone tolerances will add/stack up and affect the hub run out?

    German Prints - No GD&T ?

I've noticed that 2D prints from Germany (one that I have seen) do not have GD&T , is this common ? The print calls out this ISO 1101 spec, which is GD&T. Just not sure why symbols not shown on drawing. ISO 1101 Geometrical product specifications (GPS) — Geometrical tolerancing —...

Bearing Tolerance - Radial, Axial and Tilt angle ?

I have a rod/ shaft with a hall sensor that senses a magnet. I purchased a general bearing from Granger, mini ball Brg 626 6mm Bory Alloy Stl Item # 49DD56. The bearing seems to have excessive radial or tilt angle as shown in the image. The problem is the hall sensor is measuring the...

    Tolerance stack up types

Found a good book titled MECHANICAL TOLERANCE STACKUP AND ANALYSIS by Fischer with a good description of 1, 2 and 3D stack up approach. "As all tolerance analyses and stackups are truly three-dimensional, the problem solver is forced to frame the problem in such a manner as to facilitate a...

    Tolerance stack up types

I’m almost always asked if I can perform a tolerance stack up analysis, and the answer is yes, a basic linear 1D, stack up. I have yet to see a 2D, 3D or a radial stack up calculation. Is it just a case of these being more complicated and difficult so designers rely on the 1D stack up making...
