Plug welding hole at the end of pin

Material is A36 and the tapered side of the pin is fillet welded on the distribution gas pipeline to abandon the service (100 psi max) using an in-service welding procedure. The sketch is not to scale. I am not considering plugging 1/4x20 threaded hole on top of the pin an in-service weld.

Plug welding hole at the end of pin

Hello all Can I apply ASME B&PV sec IX procedure (6010 & 7018) to fill up 1/4" hole at the end of 1/5" pin? Kind of plugging the hole to prevent corrosion. Sketch of pin is attached. Thanks! https://res.cloudinary.com/engineering-com/image/upload/v1607390772/tips/Pin_Sketch_-_Copy_tb6han.pdf

    welding pipe

Hello all, We have following two welding procedure to butt weld API X52 NPS20 X 12.4 mm pipe. My first option would be procedure#1; however, is there any issue welding with procedure#2? Thanks for your inputs. #1 root E6010 hot, fill and cap E7010 #2 root E6010 hot E8010 fill and cap E8018

    station piping

Hi, I am looking for some information regarding the pipe fabrication methods. Is there any preference regarding SMLS (Seamless) v ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) v DSAW (Double Submerged Arc Welded) for station piping with MAOP of 650 to 900 psi? Cheers

    Storing Low Hydrogen Electrods

Hi, I would like to know how long LH electrods can expose to atomosphier without baking or redrying. Do we need to rebake LH electrodes in 350C if the welder turns off the portable oven ,which was in 130C, for 1-2 hours (let's say for break)? Thanks

ASME BPVC sec IX welding procedure

I appreciate your thoughts on this. We need a ASME sec IX welding procedure to cover welding P1G1,2,3 to P1G1,2,3. I want to cover up to 1 inch wall thickness. Proven impact property ir required. I noticed companies are using two PQR welding dual rated 516 Gr60/70 to group 3 plate in 0.249 and...

    Corrosion in HAZ

Hi, I appreciate any input on this. Two corroded area reported on NPS 36 9.5mm wall. Pipe is X65-448 gr. Corrosions do not meet our criteria to repair (RPR is > 1) based on general corrosion. I wanted to get your thoughts on the close proximity of these features to the welds. They do not...

    welding pre-straint pipe

thanks littleinch. we were told by consultant that this amount of tensile strain might be close to tensile strain capacity depends on the size of flaw in girth welded area and they agree to weld a reinforcement sleeve. Pipe is 414 grade, 30"OD X 9.5 mm.

    welding pre-straint pipe

Thanks Racookpe, analyzing data by FEA reveals that we have deformation and axial strain is less than %1 and close to tensile strain capacity. Deformation caused compression in top and tension in bottom. Deformation located in girth welded area but it passed the inspection and no defect...
