NX 9.0 "The initial secondary number must only be a letter."

I recently got a new laptop at work and my preferences have changed. When I try to change them back I keep getting the following error after clicking 'apply'. "The initial secondary number must only be a letter." Afterwards the setting changes back to default. I have access to change my customer...

Holes are diamond shaped until I Update Display

Ah, I just found this. Not sure if it still applies, but I'll give it a shot. http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=305202

Holes are diamond shaped until I Update Display

My company recently moved from NX8.5 to NX9. Now my holes are diamond or triangular and models all look like bad surface features with lots of gaps until I Update Display. Afterwards everything looks great again for a while then I'll notice at some point it has changed back to the crappy...

    customer default group.dpv file

Found it. Just need to figure out where that variable is set. We have a tool that we use to open NX/TC that requires us to select which group we are a part of. I am a member of all locked and unlocked groups, but was looking to create another. Unfortunately I do not have write access to that...

    customer default group.dpv file

What file calls the customer defaults files (i.e. group.dpv & site.dpv? I was looking through my log file and found the actual .dpv files, but I was wondering where they are called from. I am looking into creating another group user default file (group2.dpv).

    Assembly drawing help

I know this topic has been reviewed several times, but I can not seem to figure out why it is not working for me. I can't seem to get the exploded views to work with a Master Model. Originally I created the exploded view in the assembly file, but from what I have read they have to be created in...

can i remove username from .pdf export filename?

When exporting a .pdf from NX8.5 the filename keeps getting appended with my username and an underscore (username_filename.pdf). Anybody have any idea where that is controlled?

How do I exit the Active Sketch View

Noob question here.. In an existing drawing, I right clicked on a view boundary and selected Active Sketch View. I made a quick sketch on the view and now I'm trying to get out of that. I would like to make another sketch on the drawing not associated with a view. I can change the active sketch...

    remove objects from reference sets

Thanks everyone. This was a model that someone else did. It was the deselect button I was looking for. I knew there was a way to do it, but could not find it.

    remove objects from reference sets

How do you remove selected objects from a reference set. I'm sure it is simple, but I can't seem to find it. It seems my "Model("PART")" ref. set has 79 items in it. I only want the model and I can't deselect the other objects.

    Save assem part in position

Thanks bmar and Khim, you are exactly correct. We are normally given datums to work off of from the studio designers which we use to create the part data. But, occationally I start working on something before I have car space datums due to project time constraints. If you work in automotive you...

    Save assem part in position

That is what I came up with, but I was hoping that there was a more robust way to do it. Thanks for the help.

    Save assem part in position

Does anyone know how to save the position of an assembly part within the part file external to the assembly? For example, I have positioned a part in an assembly. I would now like to have that location stored within the part so that no matter which assembly I open it in, it goes back to the...

    border around note

I tried using the GD&T, but it wasnt quite right. I'll give the single cell tabular note a shot and see what happens. I'm new to UG from Solidworks and hoping there was a simple fix that I couldn't find. Thanks guys, I'll let you know.

    border around note

Anybody know how to put a border around a note? Im trying to make a feature ID cheatsheet for production that would have all OPs on one sheet. Since all the printer in production are B&W only I would like each OP to have a different border around the note calling out the feature ID number.
