4 point bending test FEA model

Thanks everyone. I just needed to back out the "equivalent modulus" of a composite panel by looking at the displacement for a certain load value. This is for a case study. Again, thanks for your replies.

How to create a quad element from nodes in FEMAP API

Hi I am new to API in FEMAP and I am trying to create a quad element from 4 nodes in API. I know how to create a surface and create the elements from the surface. But, I am wondering if I can create the element directly using the nodes. Thanks

Create model in Excel for automation

All, I would like to know how to build a FEA model in Excel and import it into FEMAP. This is more like automation so that non-FEA person can simply change the material properties or change the thickness, to do some parametric studies. Is there any process that you would like to share? Thanks...

    Random response output

Hi Everyone, I am running random response analysis in NX nastran and i have a question. Can you let me know if the acceleration that i get is acceleration^2 or acceleration^2/Hz or just acceleration from the following command? ACCELERATION(SORT1,PUNCH,RPUNCH,NORPRINT,PHASE,PSDF) = 1 Thanks...

    Honeycomb core properties

Hi forum Can someone give information on vendors who can measure the 3D anisotropic properties (G11, G22, G33, G44, G55, G66 in Mat9 material card) of honeycomb core and what standards they use to measure these properties? Thanks

loss factor different in modal FRF vs Direct FRF

Hi I have a frequency dependent material property for a visco elastic material and I run the Direct FRF solution. When I estimate the damping loss factor using X-modal software (by converting the FE output .pch file to .UFF file to import in X-modal), I get a value (say 0.1). But when I use the...

    Viscoelastic material properties

Hi This is how you should use it. You can give only one frequency dependent material. Can't use for multiple frequency dependent visco elastic material. Make sure that you don't enter GE values in other material cards ACCELERATION(SORT1,PUNCH,REAL) = 1 SDAMPING = 9 . . . $This is the visco...

    Transient Thermal Analysis in FEMAP

Hi Chin. Sorry, I couldn't get back to you. Here is the .dat file. Top layer and the bottom layer are set at 250F and their nodes are 1,2,3,4,205,206,207,208. Rest of the nodes (middle layers) are set at 70F. Specific heat for material varies and I have assumed 80000 here. Hope this helps...

    Transient Thermal Analysis in FEMAP

Hello all I need some help in thermal analysis in FEMAP/NX-Nastran. I have 17 layers stacked on each other. Initial temperature at the bottom and top of the layer is set at 250F. I would like to know the temperature of each layer as time goes on. How do I do that? Total time duration is 2hrs...
