Transient Thermal Analysis in FEMAP

Hello all

I need some help in thermal analysis in FEMAP/NX-Nastran. I have 17 layers stacked on each other. Initial temperature at the bottom and top of the layer is set at 250F. I would like to know the temperature of each layer as time goes on. How do I do that?

Total time duration is 2hrs (7200 secs) and I would like to know the temperature of each layer at every 120 secs

I would appreciate if someone could help me on this.

I am struggling as well in this area. If anyone with experience could help out, that would be great.

how did you set your initial temperature of both surfaces? I cannot figure the appropriate approach.
1. Under materials section, set reference temperature?
2. Under Analysis > Manage > Masters Request and Condition > Boundary Conditions > (tick) initial condition? if so, how do you set this up under loading section?

Another question is, in order to set an adiabatic boundary condition,
do I just set heat flux = 0 at selected surfaces?
Please advice.

Perhaps you two should look for the forum for your specific software. There appears to he a FEMAP as well as a NASTRAN forum here.

Hi Chin.

Sorry, I couldn't get back to you. Here is the .dat file. Top layer and the bottom layer are set at 250F and their nodes are 1,2,3,4,205,206,207,208. Rest of the nodes (middle layers) are set at 70F. Specific heat for material varies and I have assumed 80000 here. Hope this helps.
