Is there a way to select a parametric feature (ie: datum plane) by way of name selection filter, outside of the view boundary for dimensioning?
Our files are setup with margin lines at the X Y and Z absolute locations and we are able to select these margins by name with the name selection...
I'm not sure if this is possible already(I can't find a way to make it work if it is) - but it would be a nice to have this feature in the future.
When in drafting and you want to dimension from a datum plane for example that is outside the boundary of the view, you either have to: expand in...
Unfortunately there are about 1200 features before and about 900 features after these holes in the part. They are linked bodies created in the very beginning of the tree. We have a work around by offsetting the start point off the surface and setting the Boolean to none and subtracting from each...
Yes similar to that..but we are using gage points on a surface to start the hole and the cylindrical body is made of two linked bodies so it isn't just one solid body. When you start the hole from the gage point on a cylindrical surface you can easily set the hole to "extend start" so it won't...
See the attachment for a quick picture of a simplified version of the part. I am trying to array that hole around 180 degrees to the other body. I think the workaround would be to set the Boolean for the hole to none and then extend the face of the hole with "Offset Face" and then subtract from...
I think I have a pretty unique situation but I was wondering if there was another way about this. I am using NX 9.0.3.4.
I have a conical body that is split down the middle into two bodies. I want to place holes that are radial to the center of the part but are tilted back axially (ie: not...
Thank you so much! I was tearing my hair out for a while there trying to figure it out. Not sure why they removed the option to expand out of a view with a simple right click on the border when the dimension menu is active.
Today we switched over to NX 9 from NX 6 and there seems to be one issue that sticks out - In previous versions of NX we were able to expand into a view to pick Object 1 of a dimension from a surface or plane that is outside of the view boundary and then expand back out while still in the...
In NX6 you can divide a projected curve in the sketch but unfortunately you have to remove the assoiativity from the projected curve first otherwise it deletes the curve. In sketch if you go to Edit --> Curve --> All--> Divided curve it works the same as in NX8.5 as explained above.

I am trying to get the tool to work properly "Swept Volume" in NX9 Which should allow you to sweep a solid about a path. My problem is that I am using a helical path to create a cam slot but I get the error "The tool path must be planar." Is there any way to sweep a solid using a helical path?
