Thanks Brad, you have been a lot of help.
Do you have any suggestion on how slow to apply the load to extract E_inf. I assume thew closer the vel is to zero the better value you will get, but how slow is slow enough? I dont want to sit around until the next decade :/)
For clarification, when...
Brad,
Thanks for your response, you sound very knowledgable on the topic. Here is the deal, I am currently creating a piliminary impact model of a rubber/cork composite material in LSDyna [material#6]. In the literature I happened to come across a relaxation function for a material that is very...
Hi,
Does anyone know methods to transform a relaxation shear modulus function to a standard viscoelastic stress strain curve?
I have a relaxation function G(t) and a bulk modulus.
Thanks in advance,
CJ

Thanks, there is no doubt that I-Deas IS the wrong tool (that was never the question). The question is why...The fact that it does not use an explicit/implicit intergration scheme still doesnt answer the true question.
What is it about mode-displacement solution method (IDEAS solution method)...
Hi kamenko,
Just a couple questions to clarify
Are you actually modeing the bearings, or are you simulating them with restraint? What do you hope to get out of the analysis (or what is the purpose)? Like are you looking for nominal stresses in the shaft or are you concerned with the bearing...
Depends on the material in question. Some plastics are linear elastic just like steel (under small displacements!) but others have a modulus that changes both with increasing strain and strain rate (also temperature). My suggestion is that you fully research the material you are using, and...
oso,
All results are linear (for the same node). In fact it is very common when doing a linear elastic analysis (small displacements) to use a unit force and scale the results.

Dear Group,
I have strain data from an impact experiment using a cantilever beam type structure. Data was taken with a resist strain gauge at various points along the structure. In parallel I am modeling this structure with a couple different FEA programs to see how hard it is to accurately...
