Hi Greg,
thank you very much for the reply.
I think you are right on the use of the second formula only when the spectrum is expressed in bands.
In my opinion this is due to the fact that when I convert a PSD from narrow band to, for example, 1/3 octave bands, the values I get for each band...
Hello to everybody,
I am a bit confused about the calculation of an OSPL of a pressure spectrum.
From what I learned, I know that the OSPL should be a number describing how much energy is related to the spectrum under consideration. Nothing special so far, but I read about two formulas for its...
Ok guys, to whom it may concern I solve the problem.
The issue lay in the PSOLID property format which did not respect what is written in the NX Nastran QRG at page 2220 (Bulk data entries -PSOLID).
Hello to everyone,
I am having problems with a eigenvalues analysis. In particular I need to extract the acoustic modes from my model.
I have created a fluid material (mat10), specifying all the properties needed, but when I run the analysis the following fatal error appears:
*** USER FATAL...
Hi guys,
finally I solved my problem extracting each single volume from each part and then merging all the volumes together.
Thank you very much for the help!
Dear John, thank you for the awesome video.
Anyway I did not solve my problem due to an error message which appears when I try to delete the faces.
I have attached a video in which I try to execute the same commands as you did with your part. What do you think is wrong with my...
In the attached image I use the space finder as suggested by Toost and the filled volume is exactly what I need as a body..http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=3e625817-3be4-41a1-a088-092a094d7306&file=filling.png
Thank you guys for the very quick replies.
Excuse me, but maybe I was not able to well explain my real intent. I do not need to just measure the empty volume inside the airbox, but I need to "create" such a volume.
First, I brutally closed the structure by means of the extrusions. Then I...
Hi guys,
My part consists of an airbox for automotive applications and I need to get the air volume inside it which, of course, is not present as body. Does anyone know a simple way to obtain such an air volume as a body (starting from the airbox)?
I have attached an image of the airbox...
But, what does it mean that surface 1138 has no faces?
With Femap 11.0.1 I can't simply delete it. Does it mean I will not be able to mesh the whole geometry?
Ok, thank you very much!
Here below you can download the geometry.

Dear blas,
as always you are right! Yesterday I found out that when importing a .stp file FEMAP converts it into parasolid. So I tried to export the solid object from NX9 as parasolid file and it seems to be the correct choice.
However, after that Femap performs the import operation, a warning...
ok, I solved the problem. The file was correctly exported by NX9 and the problem was, as suggested by robnewcomb, in the import settings for step file. Therefore I tried parasolid and it seems to be the right way.
Thank you all!
Yeah, a kind of CATIA V5 opened in Virtual.Lab.
Here below there are two logs of two translation processes (one correct and one wrong). It seems that both solids are exported correctly as solids. What do you think...
Thank you all!
The problem is that I have an assembly and I need to export each part as solid object (as it is). I am sure that all parts within the assembly are solid.
Every parts have been saved "alone" (which means they have been extrapolated from the assembly) with the command...
Hello to everyone,
As in the thread below, I do not succeed in exporting a solid object in a step file, namely when I try to import it in another program the exported .stp file contains only surfaces.
Is there anything I have to check before performing the export operation?
Thank you for your...
Hello to everyone,
I have a problem in importing a geometry from Siemens NX to FEMAP. In particular my CAD is constituted by an assembly.
First, if I try to import the .prt file directly from Siemens NX, no solids or sufaces are imported at all.
Then If I try to import in FEMAP environment a...
Thank you all for your quick replies!
There is a problem when selecting manually the surfaces I want to delete, and it is represented by the fact that once I select the top surfaces, either one to one or with a rectangular selector, some "down surfaces" are automatically selected too. Such a...
